A TEE FOR DUANE PARK FROM A LOCAL
In celebration of Earth Day, designer and Tribecan Nili Lotan, who has had her eponymous shop on Duane Park since 2006, has designed a Duane Park T-shirt and all net proceeds (the tees are $85) will go to the park. It’s a very limited run and only on sale between April 17 and 30. “My very first shoot was in that triangular park,” Nili said through a press rep. “At the time, my store was the only clothing store on Duane Street, and from the beginning, Tribeca informed so much of what I do. This park is part of that story. I’ve watched it evolve – cared for, restored, and protected by the people who live here. It remains what it was always meant to be: a place to gather, to pause, to connect. Tribeca is my base. It always has been. This is my way of giving back to a place that has given me so much,” she said.
DECONSTRUCTING ISSEY MIYAKE
Robert Ripps caught this shot in February and I buried it. Clearly the Issey Miyake shop on Hudson has been dismantled. The Frank Gehry sculptures were reported to be shipped to Japan… The Row is coming into the space.
SPEAKING OF JAPAN…
There’s a vending machine on Warren — just east of Church. So odd! But maybe handy?
ROBERT RIPPS AT THE OTHER ART FAIR
Tribecan and photographer Robert Ripps will have a booth at The Other Art Fair April 16 to 19 at the Agger Fish Building, in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He will be selling large scale prints from my Negativityness series. There are 120 artists on display at the show. See the schedule here.
