Fire on Murray Street caused no injuries

I received so many notes today — thank you to all — about a fire at 14 Murray around 8:30 this morning, as well as forwards from the Citizen app that there were “possible Molotov cocktails” on the site. Totally fabricated.

I never ever look at the Citizen app because I have yet to find it to be accurate and worse, somehow they manage to — literally — fan flames.

The FDNY said the call was received at 8:23 for a fire on the third floor; it was under control by 9:05a. There were 79 FDNY and EMS personnel on the scene from 21 units. EMS transported one civilian with minor injuries to an area hospital, the FDNY said. (Thanks to H. for this photo, which I cropped below so you could see the remarkable stunts fire fighters are capable of!)

Police and FDNY trucks filled the street, along with news trucks and even helicopters.

The fire is under investigation with the Fire Marshal now. (When I called the NYPD press office, the first thing they said was there were no Molotov cocktails.)

The NYPD said there was a small fire at the site, and one person was taken to an area hospital for evaluation — otherwise no injuries.
