April 27, 2026 Restaurant/Bar News
A. and J. caught the signs: Pura Vida, the national restaurant chain originally out of Miami with a very beachy vibe, has taken the Blue Smoke space on Vesey, just across from the Brookfield mall entrance. The chain has just opened its 50th location and has dozens in Florida and seven others in the city; its first here, in Nomad, opened in 2024. Dumbo opened a couple weeks ago.
Jennifer and Omer Horev founded the company in 2012. I am assuming it’s fast casual? There’s all-day breakfast, bowls, wraps, sandwiches, all sorts of smoothies, and a kids menu. They have gluten-free and vegan offerings. (Though the kids menu is called “gluten-friendly” and as a parent of a kid with celiac disease, I am not sure what that means?)
Avacado toast is $12; a croissant egg sandwich is $15; the Greek salad is $19. There’s also empanadas, a roasted salmon plate, and then about nine original smoothies — for example, the coco azul is coconut water, banana, pineapple, mango, blue spirulina, collagen protein, hemp seed and shaved coconut. And there is a host of supplements including liquid bovine colostrum and Irish sea moss powder.
More TK when they open.
