Taste of Tribeca will be May 16 on Duane Park

I was surprised to see a comment that asked if Taste of Tribeca was free and it occurred to me that maybe not everyone knows about it! So here’s a primer as well as a list of the participants — 43 local restaurants and one firehouse, which will be making chipotle carnitas tacos — below.

Plus I took tons of great pics last year and never ran them so including all now!

The 32nd annual event, which takes up the entire block of Duane between Greenwich and Hudson, as well as parts of Greenwich running north, will take place Saturday, May 16, from 11:30a to 3p, rain or shine. Punch cards for $65 (that price is good until May 15) get you six “tastes” from booths manned by the restaurants. The funds benefit programs at PS 234 and PS 150 in Fidi. Individual tickets are available now.

There are also raffle tickets for prizes from PAC NYC, Shake Shack, Imagination Swimming and Economy Candy.

A big welcome to the newest entries: Teakwood, the Thai chophouse from chef David Banks that has taken over the former Viet Cafe space on Greenwich; and Seventy Seven Alley, the new restaurant in the Walker Hotel.

It *is* free to stroll about and catch the action — it’s a happening — plus there are free activities for kids in Duane Park as well as live music.
