LUNCHTIME JAZZ AT BOGARDUS
Bogardus Plaza will host its lunchtime jazz series starting this Thursday, May 7, through May 28. Concerts are from 1 to 2:30p. Rain dates are the following day, Friday.
ANIKOON AT JAKUPSIL GALLERY
Jakupsil gallery at 2 Rivington will show Anikoon’s “Clockwork Heart” through May 18, a solo exhibition of recent paintings and sculptures alongside the launch of his first children’s book, “The Robot and the Winding Key.” Taken together, they represent the most comprehensive overview of Anikoon’s artistic practice to date.
US SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL AT FRAUNCES TAVERN
The next segment of the Fraunces Tavern Museum’s special United States Semiquincentennial exhibition, “Path to Liberty: The Emergence of a Nation,” has opened at the restaurant and museum in Fidi. This segment of the exhibition covers the war’s movement from New York to New Jersey and includes the battles of Trenton and Princeton, turning points in the revolution for the patriots. The exhibition includes objects drawn from the museum’s collection that focus on the culture and history of Colonial America, the Revolutionary War, and the Early Republic.
SUBMERGE MARINE FESTIVAL ON MAY 16
Not in the neighborhood, but since it used to be, and since it is super fun, putting this on parents’ radars: Hudson River Park’s Submerge Marine Science Festival will be Saturday, May 16, 11a to 3p, at Pier 84 on West 44th Street. There will be experiments, wildlife encounters, science shows and more!
