I sat on this long enough that the Parks Department answered it for me, (but they were also late — the sod is usually laid down much earlier in the season). The Washington Market Park lawn area was sodded over the weekend — in fact the job should be done by today. This is the first time since 2023 that the park has gotten sod. Last year was skipped while the park was closed to replace the paths, and the year before that was skipped when the paving project was *supposed* to happen.
These rains and cool weather are well timed — let’s hope it stays that way for the six to eight weeks the sod needs to knit. During that time the lawn will be closed.
