N. caught the signage and sent pics: Blank Street Coffee has taken the Starbucks space at 140-142 West Street, on the corner with Vesey.

It gives me a chance to do a recap on this stretch of retail in 100 Barclay, especially since I have this handy dandy floorplan. The north corner will be ThisBowl; a very good authority says the former Rumble Boxing will be an LA Fitness (still awaiting that confirmation) and now this, in the southern corner.

ThisBowl is an Australian version of Sweetgreen — and it also was founded by college students — that arrived in the States in 2024. Read more on that here.

LA Fitness was founded in 1984 just east of Los Angeles. (These are pics from when Rumble opened there in 2019.) I don’t think there are any other locations in Manhattan, but there are three in the Bronx and about a dozen on Long Island.

Blank Street launched in 2020 as a coffee cart in Brooklyn and is now known for its specialty coffees and matcha beverages. They are opening a big location as a Blank Street Coffee & Matcha Shop on Sixth Avenue and Walker, and they have a spot on Church and Warren that opened in 2022. They also have shops in Boston, Washington DC, London and a bunch of other UK cities.
