DINNER ON DUANE TICKETS ON SALE TODAY
Dinner on Duane, the Friends of Duane Park’s annual fundraiser scheduled for September 13, go on sale this morning at 9a. They sell out fast! This year’s dinner will be provided by Eulalie, and chef Chip Smith is planning a French-meets-Southern American (Chip is from North Carolina) harvest dinner, with produce and eggs from Spruce Ridge Farms in Old Chatham. LONGEST TABLE IN TRIBECA PARK
The Community First Development Coalition, inspired by similar events held across the city, will host The Longest Table on Sunday, June 14, from 1 to 3p, in Tribeca Park on Beach and West Broadway. The meal is a potluck, and folks can bring any kind of dish — register here to say what you are brining. Tables and seats are provided. The choir from Church Street School for Music and Art will perform. Children and dogs are welcome.
US MEN’S WORLD CUP SOCCER STARTED HERE
The U.S. Men’s National Team chose Pier 17 to announce its roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The games start June 11 and run through July 19 in the US, Canada and Mexico. The team is now headed to Atlanta to begin final preparations ahead of its two final matches before the World Cup begins, then the team will kick off its World Cup campaign in Group D against Paraguay on June 12, in Los Angeles.
NEW CEO FOR MUSEUM OF JEWISH HERITAGE
The Museum of Jewish Heritage has appointed civic leader and former federal prosecutor Tali Farhadian as its next CEO; she succeeds Jack Kliger, who has led the institution since 2019. Farhadian is a federal prosecutor, professor, criminal justice reformer and advocate for women and girls, as well as an Iranian Jew whose family sought refuge in the United States during the Islamic Revolution. She studied at Yale; Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar; and Yale Law School. She clerked for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and Judge Merrick B. Garland; served as counsel to Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr.; served as the general counsel at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. She is a trustee of the New York Public Library and recently completed her service on the Yale University Council.
