Seen & Heard: Community meeting on Independence Plaza Tower

COMMUNITY FIRST VIRTUAL MEETING ON TOWER
The Community First Development Coalition will host a virtual community meeting on June 18 at 6p to review updates on the proposed tower for Greenwich and Jay, describe their neighborhood plan, and prepare for a June 25 City Planning Commission “scoping meeting” that will review the plans. Register here.

FLAG DAY PARADE TOMORROW
The Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York will host their annual Flag Day Parade, Celebration, and Open House on Friday, June 12, starting at noon at City Hall Park and ending at Fraunces Tavern. It’s a day-long celebration of the adoption of the flag of the United States of America on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Hosted since 1916, the Flag Day Parade is one of the oldest running parades in New York City. During the day, between 12-5p, Fraunces Tavern Museum will offer $1 admission.

NEW OUTDOOR SEATING FOR TOBY’S ESTATE
Toby’s Estate, which has the good fortune to have the massive sidewalks of Greenwich Street in front of their coffeeshop, will add 22 seats to the outdoor seating area.

NEW PRIVATE DINING AT ATERA
If I am following the CB1 Licensing Committee meeting properly, Atera at 77 Worth is turning what I think was its lounge into a private dining area. I have never been — scared off by the prices — but the space is just 820 square feet and holds 26 seats at eight tables. The restaurant has been upstairs since 2012. I didn’t quite understand the discussion at CB1 — they were limiting the number of buyouts for the space, but isn’t a private dining room by definition a full buyout??
