The Knicks ticker-tape parade shuts down the neighborhood

The Knicks ticker-tape parade shut down the streets of Tribeca and Fidi from Broadway to West Broadway, Chambers to Battery Place, with police barricades set up at each intersection unable to hold in the throngs.

Only the select few who lined up starting at 3a got a view of the parade; everyone else was just there for the vibes. Considering there were millions — by 8a the MTA had rerouted trains so they didn’t stop below Canal; commuter trains were packed to the doors — you could still get a burrito at Los Tacos and the overall scene was pretty chill. I credit less beer, more pot! (As Bubby’s owner Ron Silver told me once, “I’ve never seen a bar brawl with a bunch of pot smokers.”) A guy did pass out on *top* of the subway entrance at Park Place, but parade goers climbed up, revived him, and somehow the ambulance got through.

Here’s a few shots from Church Street. More TK from Broadway and Murray…
