Seen & Heard: “On the Town” screens at The Battery for Fleet Week

“ON THE TOWN” AT THE BATTERY
In honor of Fleet Week, the Downtown Alliance will host an outdoor screening of “On The Town” with live performances at The Battery on Wednesday, July 8. The Perelman Performing Arts Center will lead interactive performances set to the iconic 1949 MGM musical during the screening. There will also be giveaways, surprise performances and more. Food will be available to purchase from on-site vendors. Bring a blanket. Gates will open at 6p with the movie beginning at 7:30p. Enter the park from Battery Place and State Street. Attendees are encouraged to reserve a free spot here.

NEW JAPANESE NAIL SPOT ON CHURCH
Sugar Plum has opened in the stretch of Church between Duane and Reade that now has some welcome action. The sandwich shop Nomad is right next door. A typical manicure is $38 and they also have gel manicures and extentions. Monday to Sunday, 10a to 8p.

RESTAURANT OPEN IN CLOUD ONE DOWNTOWN
The Cloud One Deli has opened in the Cloud One New York–Downtown in Fidi, a boutique hotel by the Germany-based Motel One Group on Greenwich and Thames/Cedar. The deli is all-day eatery, with breakfast offerings, fresh lunch options and starting at twilight, shareable plates and curated wine list. The menu is designed by Chef Brenda Torres, who prioritizes organic selections, seasonal produce, and sustainable sourcing through partnerships with local farms and vendors. WATER MAIN BREAK IN BPC
There was a break in the water main in Battery Park City on Tuesday night, causing a river in the streets. The break was at 3rd Plae near South End Avenue. “Onsite with our partners at the Department of Environmental Protection and the Fire Department, our contractor worked overnight to make repairs. Water service was restored shortly before 7AM Wednesday, July 1,” said BPCA spokesman Nick Sbordone.
