This reminds me that I am VERY behind on noting a new retailer in the neighborhood: Rebecca Taylor. But in the meantime, it looks like a men’s workout clothing line called Ten Thousand has taken the gallery space on Washington and Vestry that Anotheroom had dibs on. Thanks to M. for the heads-up.
M. and I are both disappointed about Anotheroom, but I know some neighbors are not. Several came out against it at the Community Board 1 meeting back in April. (Wouldn’t this have been a good combo? Minimalist workout gear by day, minimalist bar by night?)
(Charles Moffett moved his gallery that was in that space since 2018 to Broadway.)
GQ reviewed Ten Thousand when it came out in 2015, calling it “refreshingly simple and functional.” From GQ: “Founders Keith Nowak and Eugenio Labadie say they started the brand because they were frustrated by constant turnover in styles that they found wasteful and confusing. The pair also believe that it’s their simplicity that sets them apart. Which it just might, considering their product assortment of one shirt and one pair of shorts at the moment.”
They have since added more products, but not a ton — there are pants, hoodies, a shell and loads of colors for the Ts and shorts. The 7″ polyester-blend shorts are $143; the cotton field T-shirt is $100.
From what I can tell online this is their first retail store. Will update when they open.
