TRINITY AWARDS GRANT TO BMCC’s PROJECT IMPACT
Trinity Church recently awarded a $525,000 grant to BMCC’S Project Impact, which supports students who were formerly incarcerated. The church wanted to expand their work with New Yorkers impacted by the justice system, since research shows that people who participate in postsecondary education while incarcerated have a 48 percent lower chance of returning to prison, underscoring the growing role colleges can play in supporting successful reentry and long-term economic mobility. The church’s grants this season totaled $19.5 Million for education, public benefits and church stewardship.

NALA’S BAGELS CLOSED?
G. wrote to say that Nala’s Bagels — which opened on Chambers and Church early this year and closed its original location on Reade — is now closed. Maybe it’s temporary? A notice on the door from the Health Department dated 6/24/26 says it is operating without a permit, though a quick search showed that inspections that day showed they had an unapproved outdoor cooking setup??
