Nosy Neighbor: What is up with this garage on Harrison?

Back in April, A. sent this note: “What is going on with the ghost garage on Harrison Street next to the historic houses? It’s nothing but unmarked cars, the same model and no license plates. My friend thinks it could be ICE. I think it’s a ghost garage where they want to have it vacant of real cars for the tower construction and filled it up with cars to make it look like a real garage…”

Well, I have no answers! And I have tried. First with Independence Plaza, where the press rep said — after checking with her client — that Icon leases and oversees all garages at Independence Plaza. I have tried emailing Icon several times to no avail. (I guess I could call…) I think the address there is 310 Greenwich; there is no Icon signage around the entrance, as there is for the garage across the street.

G. also sent a note and M. grabbed photos for me as well back in May. I then stopped by this month and chatted with the attendant — through the closed door — and nothing.

Any guesses?

  1. I can confirm based on discussions with staff at Independence Plaza that this is indeed and unfortunately ICE.
