No weekend service on the 1, 2, 3

Missed my train from Penn the other day thanks to no service on the 1, 2, 3, and remembered too late that I had a press release on this from the MTA.

There is no 1, 2, 3 service in Tribeca for the weekends through August 24 so the agency can replace switches.

  • 1 train will not operate south of 14th Street
  • 2 train will only run between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and Penn Station
  • 3 train is fully suspended. 4 trains will replace 3 trains between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Avenue all weekend.
  • 5 trains will operate between Wakefield-241 St and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, making express stops on the Lexington Avenue line in Manhattan, and local stops in Brooklyn.

(I was hoping for the A to Penn, after walking to Church. Instead I got the C when it arrived 7 minutes later. The new switches, the MTA said, will provide better service reliability and on-time performance.)

Service changes go into effect starting Fridays at 9:30p through Mondays at 5a.

For the latest information, visit this webpage, which will be updated to include maps of the planned work.
