Seen & Heard: Bogardus kiosk closed for August

BOGARDUS KIOSK CLOSED FOR AUGUST
The kiosk at Bogardus Plaza is taking a summer hiatus — I checked with the Friends and they will be back in September. I am still baffled by the city allowing a halal truck to compete with them on city property…

BOOKS, LEFT TO THE IMAGINATION
I was all excited to flip through the “Tribeca” coffee table book at Toby’s Estate only to learn that the pages are blank — as they are for the other cities on the shelf. What is the point?

GIANT KALEIDOSCOPE IN BATTERY PARK CITY
Battery Park City Authority has installed a giant kaleidoscope near the bike path at Little West Street and 2nd Place. The spinning elements of the kaleidoscope include birds, insects and marine life to represent migration across the US. It features turning plexiglass wheels on the ends that participants can turn to change the visuals inside. Up until September 21.

NEW Ts AT ZUTTO
Are these new? Loving the kitty but also the classic Tribeca storefront that is Zutto on the T-shirt behind… I love a good neighborhood restaurant T and you can find them at Bubby’s and Puffy’s — and where else?

  1. Regarding the blank books: Many years ago, cousins of ours made and marketed hardcover bound books with blank sheets in them – suitable for lists, journaling, etc. I think they were called “Fancy Blanks.” Perhaps these coffee books are a larger version of the same idea.
