BALLET IN BOGARDUS
Pigeon Wing Dance will perform in Bogardus Plaza tomorrow, Thursday, at 5:45 to 7:15p as part of its Carpet Series. The compact outdoor performances taking place on an 8×10 Persian carpet in parks and on sidewalks across the city, showcasing the choreography of four highly trained contemporary ballet dancers. Unlike most graffiti, which is anonymous and most would say expressive, this use of public space for advertising makes me wild. Why doesn’t Fast Company just get a whopping ticket for corporate graffiti?

HIGHLIGHTING HEALTH CARE IN HAITI THROUGH ART
Partners In Health, a global non-profit that works to strengthen health systems, is partnering with Art on the Ave to present Foto: A Lens on Haiti at its gallery at 2 Lafayette. The opening reception is Tuesday, September 22, from 6:00–8:30p. The photography exhibit will feature the work of acclaimed American documentary photographer Nadia Todres, who spent several years documenting PIH’s work in Haiti. The organizers hope to elevate awareness of the ongoing crisis in Haiti and the broader challenges facing global health today. On view until September 27.
