TASTE OF THE SEAPORT REBOOT
The Taste of the Seaport team was forced to postpone the annual event to Saturday, October 24, due to the nor-easter, so it’s now on for this weekend, Saturday, October 24, noon to 4p on Piers 16 and 17. More info here.

FILM & PERFORMANCE AT THE ROXY CINEMA
I usually only list free events, but this one sounded cool and since I always forget there is a movie theater at the Roxy, I am including it here: The cinema will show “The Red Violin” on Thursday, October 22, 7p, which traces the titular instrument’s journey from 17th-century Italy to an auction in 1990s Montreal and the various musicians and owners it bewitches along the way. Violinist Joshua Bell performed all of the solos in the film. The screening will open with a performance of film composer John Corigliano’s “The Red Violin Caprices” by violinist Chili Ekman. CAST YOUR VOTE FOR A LOCAL ‘SUPERKID’
A 9-year-old student at PS 150, Ristiani, is a contestant in the Stan Lee Foundation’s SuperKid contest, which recognizes childred who have overcome adversity; he is currently in 3rd place. Votes for him here will help him snag the SuperKid status, where he be featured in a limited edition comic book published by the foundation. The contest does .(The foundation raises money to promote literacy and the narrative arts for children.) Ristiani, who was adopted from Bulgaria in 2021, has severe hearing loss and wears hearing aids. Before he arrived in the States, his hearing loss had been undiagnosed, resulting in big language delays that he has worked to overcome while also learning English.

PEANUTS x BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SHELTER
Peanuts® and Best Friends Animal Society on West Broadway and Canal are hosting a two-day pop-up event featuring merchandise, photo experiences and of course opportunities to meet adoptable pets on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24. 11a to 7p. Turns out Snoopy has five sibs: Spike, Belle, Olaf, Andy and Marbles, and they will be on hand for photos.
