ROMANTASY AT MAMAN
Maman had a collab event that drew lines around the block — thanks to A. for the shot — for the sixth book in the romantasy series called “A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J. Maas. This one is called “A Court of Splintered Harmony” and is described this way: Koschei the Deathless is targeting Fae and human territories while Prythian and the Night Court remain split.” ICYMI (I did), this is a publishing phenomenon, with global sales past 75 million.
FALL PLANTING AT FINN SQUARE
The Friends of Finn Square will host its fall planting of flowering bulbs on Saturday, December 5, at 11a. Everyone is welcome; equipment and refreshments will be provided. Rain date is the following Sunday. The group has enlisted Natasha Lyasheva, a landscape designer, to consolidate the planting palette and add structure, texture and visual interest through the fall and even into the winter. They are also working with the Department of Transportation to install three planters at the south end of the garden outside the fence to bring more greenery to the triangle. More info here.
A TICK ON THE TIP OF A NOSE
D. wrote to say he discovered a deer tick on the tip of his dog’s nose after a walk in Teardrop Park. My first reaction was that this should be no surprise, but in fact deer ticks are not really known to be wandering around Manhattan. The city only monitors tick populations in select parks, primarily on Staten Island and in the North Bronx. New Yorkers with a tick-borne illness got it from leaving town.
