An indoor pickleball court has opened in Fidi

It was just a matter of time: a new company called Pickle1 took a 5000-square-foot space on the ground floor of 100 Pearl, between William and Broad, and converted it to a pickleball facility with three professional courts. They opened a year ago; I am just catching up after they took the lease in February 2025.

There’s hourly rentals ($120 at peak, $80 at non-peak); drop-in open play hours where you rotate in with players of similar levels; leagues; tournaments; coaching; group clinics; and…badminton! There are also monthly memberships that offer some deals and give booking priority.

The space has 24-foot high ceilings and lots of natural light. They took a lease for 10 years.

The founder and CEO, Michael McClain, got hooked on the game in 2023, after an invite by friends to play in Central Park. But, he says on the website, “our new hobby came to an abrupt halt when it turned cold.” Thus started the search for an indoor space Downtown.

Oh — and paddles and pickleballs are available with each reservation, free of charge, in or around the ball caddies at each court.

Fidi also has Court16 at 28 Liberty around the corner, and there are other indoor spots — CityPickle, Penn1 — but not a ton, especially given the appetite. Open Squash opened in the building in 2022.
