The “for lease” sign has been removed from the window of 115 W. Broadway—formerly the site of Authentic Pre-Owned—and paper has gone up, with workers busy inside. I asked a resident on her way out of the building if she knew what was moving in, and she said she was told it was “organic skincare.” I don’t know if that means products or services (although they’re often offered together). Either way, it’s one more sign that the self-care industries view this neighborhood as ripe for investment. Within spitting distance of 115 W. Broadway: Skin Laundry, Heyday, the forthcoming ONDA Beauty, Bluemercury, Spring Street Dermatology….
I recalled the West Village’s Savor Spa searching for a Tribeca space some years ago, but an email to the company went unanswered.
UPDATE: A tipster told me that this is likely ONDA Beauty, the natural cosmetics shop that was supposed to be opening at 51 Hudson, and ONDA confirmed the move. The tipster also said a “high-end furniture store” could be coming to the corner space at 51 Hudson, currently the office of H&H Building Consultants. I’ll look into it. UPDATE: The person who answered the phone at H&H said, “We’re not leaving,” which may or may not be meaningful.
