••• The New York City Department of Design & Construction sent out an advisory about the Warren Street reconstruction: “On the week of May 14, the south side of Warren between Greenwich and W. Broadway will be backfilled and paved for NYCDOT’s Special Event (the AHA Wall Street Run on May 17).” In other words, that block will get paved for one event, and then torn up again. (Wouldn’t it be easier to move the event?) “The trench will not be completely open the way it is now for gas work,” said the community liaison. “The GC will be working on a section at a time as installation progresses.” The conversation also smoked out the following info: “There have been delays on this block due to gas work. Con Ed should be done welding gas pipes on this block by the end of this week. The remaining underground construction in this section (gas testing, water mains/water services, hydrants, and electrical work) can generally be completed without leaving the excavation open for extended periods of time. We are scheduled to be complete with all underground work on the south side of Warren on that block by July 2018. Curbs, sidewalks and concrete base for that section of roadway are scheduled to be complete and open to traffic in September 2018.”

••• I hoped to learn about a few matters at last night’s meeting of the Community Board 1 Licensing Committee, but it started 15 minutes late (no quorum), and then they pushed three Seaport items to the front of the agenda. If you give me a reason to leave, I will take it. But before I pulled the ripcord, I did hear one of the more provincial things ever to be uttered at a CB1 meeting. For 14 years now, a member of Community Board 2 has been organizing an annual gay pride benefit; this year’s is at Pier 15, and she needs permission from the State Liquor Authority to serve booze till 4 a.m. The committee went over the usual issues—where would the speakers be pointed, how many attendees, etc.—and then a member asked why, since she’s from CB2, she couldn’t find a venue there…?

••• Two Hands has reversed its card-only policy. “We felt that cashless is best suited for fast-casual/to-go concepts,” says co-founder Giles Russell. “As a full service restaurant we wanted to give our guests at least the option of paying cash. Interestingly, at our Tribeca location less than 10% of guests use cash.”

••• Il Mulino says its Tribeca restaurant is now shooting to open in mid-June. The website says it’ll have a a “crudo bar.”
