Seriously, what’s the deal with Dig Inn’s Tribeca outpost at Greenwich and Laight? As of a week before, the official opening date was September 10, but instead, citing “pesky construction woes,” the company announced that we’d have to wait another three to six weeks. We’re now at 10 weeks, so I asked the PR rep, who said, “Opening date is still TBD but looking like it’ll happen by mid-December.”
What’s the delay? I asked, but there was no response. I haven’t seen any sign of work inside, although I don’t walk by every day. Does anyone have the details?
UPDATE: “I heard from someone at Dig Inn that the neighbors above had an issue with the restaurant’s vent system (too loud?),” commented B. “This forced the company to suspend operations until it got fixed. Doesn’t seem like they’ve completed any work on that since the soft opening back in late August though….”

I heard dig in realized they would never be able to break even after signing a ridiculous amount of $$ for the lease and have decided not to even bother opening
Well if they already signed the lease (I assume you do that before you construct a storefront) then they have no choice but to open for business.
Meanwhile, Sweet Green is continuing to enjoy their lunch traffic flow.
Update: Dig Inn is opening this Saturday for a trial. It’ll open fully sometime next week.
