••• Artnet recaps the recent influx of art galleries to Tribeca from Chelsea. Much is made of Postmasters being the first gallery in the area, but of course there were many before it (though not necessarily from Chelsea). Anyway, the article says that Journal Gallery is coming, too, to 45 White (next door to art advisor Lisa Schiff). It’ll open in early 2019.

••• From the Tribeca Trib police blotter: “A group of seven teens came into [Pamper Ur Pets on W. Broadway] and started stealing. When the employee tried to take the merchandise back, they shoved and kicked him, causing him to fall to the floor. The thieves then fled with three toys worth $65.”

••• “The Uzbek man charged with using a truck to kill eight people on a Manhattan bike path last year was recorded on an F.B.I. wiretap the day before the attack and was heard on other calls going back three years, according to two court filings by defense lawyers. The filings do not reveal the contents of the conversations or whether the man, Sayfullo Saipov, 30, was overheard making threats or talking about an impending attack.” —New York Times

••• A New York Times article on food vendors in Chinatown includes Muoi Trong, who sells fruit on Mulberry (including the most delicious little seedless tangerines right now). Also, a tofu store called Fong On is opening on Division Street early next year.
