Friends of Duane Park will host a spring event where folks can plant a succulent and enjoy live music. Saturday, May 13, 10a to noon.
INDIGO LIFE CLASSES AT 42 WALKER
Professionally taught culinary classes for small groups are now being offered at 42 Walker Street’s commercial kitchen. Classes vary weekly and include topics such as “All about Oysters” “Handmade Empanadas from Scratch” and “Focus on Reducing Food Waste in our Kitchen.” The classes offer a low stress environment open to all abilities ages 18 and up. NAME THE NEW GOV ISLAND FERRY
Governors Island’s new hybrid-electric ferry, coming summer 2024, will be named by the public — the deadline is May 25 to submit an entry. Submit online at govisland.org/ferry-contest ; the winning name will be chosen by the Governors Island Community Advisory Council and announced later this summer. The winner will receive free rides on the hybrid ferry for life. One entry per person, open to residents of all ages living in the five boroughs.
TAKAHACHI LAUNCHES BROOKLYN LOCATION
Tribeca OG Takahachi, which has its restaurant on Duane, its bakery on Murray and another restaurant in the East Village, has opened a new restaurant in Bushwick at 29 Wykoff Ave. It’s not even listed on their website yet, but I spotted the news that it is open on Instagram.
