New Kid on the Block: Tribeca Delicious Bites

Adding to the new deli landscape of the neighborhood is Tribeca Delicious Bites, which opened over the Thanksgiving Weekend on the north side of Chambers in the old pizza spot. (Thanks to J. for the heads up.) The manager and staff seemed very nice and welcoming. They will have pizza and all sorts of juices and smoothies, and in the meantime the usual vast offerings of sandwiches and paninis.

By my count this gives us seven new delis — including the Tribeca Olive Branch right across the street in the former Zucker’s space. We’ve also got Brooklyn Bread on Murray; Vineyard on Broadway and Park Place; Tribeca Deli and Grill on Chambers and Church; Heavenly Market on Chambers and Broadway; and a brand new one on Leonard and Broadway.

They all look like they have very similar offerings, but I imagine each cook has his specialties — Elizabeth noted in comments in June that the chopped cheese at Tribeca Olive Branch is a winner.

Cafe Amore, the slice shop that was in that space for what neighbors guessed was 30 years, closed in November 2022. Those same folks opened a much smaller shop called iPizza down the block, but that too closed just this past August.

  1. Having too many delis is not a problem. Having too many cannabis dispensaries or caviar emporiums … those are problems.

  2. Why are cannabis and caviar stores “problems?” They might not be your cup of tea but there obviously is a market. Why be such a sanctimonious scold? No one is putting handcuffs on you and forcing you to patronize those places. Why take “offense” and want to cancel people who are different than you. Bet you would like to eliminate the MAGA crowd as well.

  3. “Why are cannabis and caviar stores ‘problems?'”

Regarding the cannabis dispensaries, there’s simply too damn many of them, full stop.

Regarding the caviar emporium, NO ONE NEEDS THAT. How about a book store or a hardware store or a bakery or something a bit more useful?

“Why be such a sanctimonious scold?” I’m merely expressing my opinion. If that makes me sanctimonious, so be it.

“No one is putting handcuffs on you and forcing you to patronize those places” No, they’re not, but I can’t help thinking that the community writ large would benefit from those places catering to the needs of the greater populace, and not just comparatively niche concerns.

“Why take “offense” and want to cancel people who are different than you.” Again, these are my opinions. You may beg to differ.

“Bet you would like to eliminate the MAGA crowd as well.” You fucking bet I would.

  4. If you want a hardware store or a bakery, no one is stopping you from opening one . . .

  5. We saw Marky’s being worked on today, the new caviar restaurant, and it looks great! My family of 5 are looking forward to going there! We will definitely be supporting and rooting for them. Welcome to the neighborhood!
