••• Carl’s Steaks has closed its Chambers Street location—perhaps the encroaching construction was just too much to bear. A sign on the door says a Carl’s Steaks food truck will launch this summer, and that you can follow it on Facebook and Twitter, although no addresses were specified. (Thanks to the reader who emailed me about it.)
••• @Heatherwag pointed out that the new sidewalk seating is open at the Tribeca Grand’s Church Lounge. Bring a windbreaker.
••• I called Saluggi’s to ask when Saluggi’s Sandwich Shop—that’s the name—will open in the old Sea World space at Church and Lispenard. The answer: “We’re taking it day by day. This Thursday, but maybe early next week, or possibly the week after.”
••• The uptown Kaffe 1668 is serving beer and wine in the evenings.
••• Have you peeked inside the Chipotle coming to Murray and Greenwich? If it’s not open by the time school starts up again, I’ll be shocked.
••• Whoever tweets for ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty discovered some cool shadow art by Kumi Yamashita at “AmEx’s Tribeca office,” which I think means 250 Hudson…? Anyway, it is cool, if off-limits to non–Amexicans. Photo via Feel Desain.
