••• “The folks who bought the ‘2,057 sq ft’ Manhattan loft #4B at 124 Hudson Street in April 2007 just sold it for a gain of 16%. That’s nice work. Weird thing is that it took a while to get there, with the asking price dropping from $3.3mm down to $3.05mm over the last year before selling at $2.9mm, a 12% discount from first ask, and a modest 5% off the last ask. (Raising the price once in the middle did not help, of course, but still: that’s a long time to find a buyer to step up.)” —Manhattan Loft Guy
••• “Yet another source of coffee is coming to the upper part of the Financial District as Oren’s Daily Roast announced it will open its 12th location at William St. & Fulton.” —Downtown Lunch
••• “Developer Yitzchak Tessler is facing a lawsuit from renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s company for allegedly reneging on a deal to compensate the famed chef once he gave up the space he was leasing at 66 Leonard.” —The Real Deal
••• Masters & Pelavin loaned a lot of art for the model apartment at the converted nursing home on Abingdon Square. —Interior Design
••• “In just an hour and a half, a hospitality dream team […] will open a brand new project on the mezzanine of the Public Theater on Lafayette St. called The Library. Chef Andrew Carmellini and restaurateur Luke Ostrom join the Joe’s Pub partners (Paul Salmon, Kevin Abbott, Serge Becker, and Josh Pickard) in creating this new project, which they are billing as an ‘Astor-era cocktail lounge.’ Carms tapped Locanda Verde chef Michael Oliver to run the show here day-to-day.” Semi-related: I went to the renovated Joe’s Pub a few weeks back; it’s way better. But the food was still bad and come on, people, make the door to the kitchen close silently! It’s a concert venue! —Eater

Great news about Oren’s. Consistently the best single origin coffees around, imo. Having to walk to the Village all the time was a drag.
Fulton street has seen a LOT of new business in the last 6 months. Between Baked by Melissa, GRK and now Oren’s, we may actually have hope of a normal, non-construction bound street! Here’s hoping!
