••• A two-part exhibit is opening at Hal Bromm gallery on Apr. 30 (with an opening reception Apr. 29, 6–9 p.m.). It’s called “Anti-Anti / Non-Non,” and it “explores how one can define the inconceivable through a series of subtractions, ultimately reducing what [it] is through what [it] is NOT.” Part one, “Anti-Anti,” features artists “making work within a formalist framework based on grid, pattern or repetition.” The artists include Douglas Melini, Stacy Fisher, Jack Featherly, Joshua Abelow, Gianna Commito, Jaime Gecker, Matthew Lusk, Bryan Osburn, Sarah Shirley, Ellen Sayers, and Keith J. Varadi. 90 W. Broadway at Chambers; open Fridays and Saturdays 2–6 p.m. and by appointment (aannshow@gmail.com).
••• The city’s Department of Design & Construction will hold a meeting at 3 p.m. on May 6 to share details about the Chambers Street reconstruction. It’s in the LMCCC offices at One Liberty Plaza, 20th floor. (Bring ID, because having ID utterly diminishes the possibility you will want to do anyone harm.) I’m guessing that the info will be the same as when the DDC presented to CB1’s Tribeca committee.
••• I need to pause things for a second to convey how bereft I am over Billy’s Bakery‘s decision to change its brownie recipe. I don’t normally feel strongly about brownies, but Billy’s previous version (left) was dark and cakey—positively loamy—and the new one isn’t, and it has chocolate chips in it. I like chocolate chips when they’re in a chocolate-chip cookie. P.S. In other news, Billy’s says it now has strawberry shortcake brownies, if you’ve forgiven them this brownie transgression.
••• Cristina Dos Santos‘s shop on N. Moore is hosting an Empty Bowls for Haiti benefit on May 6 (6–9 p.m.). A $50 donation (going to Doctors Without Borders, Make a Difference, or Save the Children) gains you entry and, while supplies last, a bowl handmade by an artist. Cristina, meanwhile, will donate 10% of sales during the event to one of the causes. More info: larsonlighting@netzero.net.
••• Everybody ♥ a bargain: At Saturday’s Tribeca Film Festival Family Festival, the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center will be offering a discount on 10Clubs for next season

So you’re telling us that Billy’s isn’t offering “brownie-brownies?” Seriously not cool. Billy’s please don’t go all Bouley on us…for the love.
