Seen & Heard: Two New Shops

••• On Monday, Italian men’s shoemaker Mauri is opening a shop on Chambers between Broadway and Church. More next week….

••• And this weekend, Nirvana International is opening a jewelry boutique at 246 W. Broadway (between Beach and N. Moore). Owner Amit Sharma said it’s more of a soft opening, with a grand opening to follow later. Again, more next week…. It figures everyone would open stuff right when I’m going out of town!

••• Downtown Dance Factory has added “a Friday K/1 Jazz/Hip Hop class, and two new boys classes.”

••• Just Scandinavian is celebrating its fifth anniversary by offering 10 percent off all pillows and trays in stock.

••• Khushi has introduced a new Rejuvenating Scrib: “A fabulous sugar scrub made with the essential oil of peppermint and a base of sweet almond oil. Strawberry seeds and walnut shell powder add to the exfoliation power of this scrub! The peppermint essential oil lifts your spirits and rejuvenates your mind and body!”

••• Added to City Winery‘s schedule: Over the Rhine on Sept. 16 (the band’s double CD, Ohio, is one of my all-time favorites) and Paula Cole celebrating her new album, Ithaca, on Sept. 21.

••• This dog is lost: “Beau is a 14 month old, cream and apricot colored, Miniature Australian Labradoodle. He is neutered, is 23 lbs. and was wearing a red collar with a NYC Rabies Tag # 0125 from Washington Square Vet. He bolted from his home in lower Manhattan on 4-30-10 and last seen in the vicinity of Canal Street and the North Tribeca area.” More details on Petfinder, via Spot.

••• The Sora Lella restaurant deal—a free bottle of wine with any dinner for two—that’s exclusive to Tribeca Citizen readers has been extended through the end of June.

  1. Exciting to see Mauri shoes coming to Chambers Street – it will certainly add
a bit of badly needed class to that particular spot.

But how about a shoe retailer for women – anything to avoid that zoo at Century 21 !!
