••• The deli at the northwest corner of W. Broadway and Murray—maybe it’s called Corner Deli?—is undergoing a renovation. The note says it’ll reopen in two to three weeks. Until then, no overwhelming bacon smell!

••• I’m not sure why it’s a victory that the NYPD has forced the fake-bag vendors from Canal onto Lispenard. At least Canal is commercial and well lit; walking down Lispenard last night made feel a bit uneasy.

••• From Tamid: “We are excited to announce that we will be opening a new space in Tribeca for our classes, programs, meetings, and now for small gatherings. Our new space is double in size from our current location and has two classrooms, a rabbi’s study, a kitchen, and a gathering space which can seat about 60 people. It is nestled on the 10th floor [of 299 Broadway] is quiet, and has sweeping views of Lower Manhattan. It’s always been our vision to create a community hub downtown and into this new space we welcome the Jewish Journey Project and Tada! Both organizations will be offering classes starting this fall and if you know of non-profits looking for meeting space, we are happy to welcome them at Tamid.”

••• The next Tribeca Meet & Great—organized by the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center—is this Thursday, July 24, at Warburg Realty’s Tribeca office at 100 Hudson (6-8:30 p.m.). The event also serves as the opening reception for a show by artist Juan L. Luna.

••• Another cycling studio opened in FiDi: FlowCycle (on the ninth floor of 2 Rector).

••• Fireworks tonight around 9:15 p.m. off Ellis Island.

••• Wow, take a look at One Vandam’s curtain wall. (Click to see it better.) It almost has a Wiener Werkstätte vibe.  The renderings are nothing like that…. UPDATE: “The facade will look the same as in the renderings, nothing has changed,” emails a rep. “What you are looking at in the area above the large terrace is a clipping system, which is being used for the remaining facade pieces. Basically what the stone and glass pieces shown in the renderings will be hung in front of. The clipping system is used to make sure there are clean lines and you won’t see it afterwards.”
