••• Remember those wonderful 70s photos of Manhattan doorways by late photographer Roy Colmer? His wife, Claudia, commented: “We lived on Walker Street (near Church Street) for many years in a loft, moving 12/2002. He first moved to Walker Street in the late 1960’s when just artists lived there.”

Artist David Rittinger will showcase his range of works that breathe new life into discarded materials. ••• From Community Board 1: “The Trust for Governors Island issued the attached press release today announcing that the permit process for use of the sports fields on Governors Island opened today for the 2015 season. Those interested in using the fields during the coming season, which begins on May 23,  should visit the Trust’s website to register.”

••• Opening Feb. 20 at No Romance Galleries, which I guess isn’t gone yet: “A Circle Unbroken: Tributes in Pattern, presenting works by Pablo Power.”

••• “Odyssey” is shooting in the Reade/Church area on Monday. I assume it’s this TV movie: “Three families are torn apart when a stranded female soldier, a disillusioned corporate attorney and a disrespected political activist are pulled into the same shocking international military conspiracy.”

••• Got a preview of a new dessert at Racines NY last night: pineapple crudo with coconut fluffiness (my word, not theirs), lime granita and little amaretti (I think). Next best thing to getting out of this godforsaken weather and going somewhere warm. Also, one of the entrées included “winter racines” in the description, so I asked: I always thought the name was just a proper noun, but “racine” means “root” in French.

••• From Arts Brookfield: “The acclaimed Silent Films/Live Music series returns to Brookfield Place from February 17-20 featuring a slate of Man Ray films accompanied by the avant-rock band SQÜRL, featuring Jim Jarmusch and Carter Logan.” Jim Jarmusch! The downtown scene isn’t dead—it’s just at the mall. Also: “The Spanish hit Blancanieves, which swept Spain’s top filmmaking awards in 2013, will be screened with a live performance of Alfonso Vilallonga’s original soundtrack performed by the composer himself with the acclaimed new-music ensemble Wordless Music Orchestra.”
