••• Adam and I were staring up at 56 Leonard, discussing yet again its merits and failings, when we realized that those are two circles under each balcony are lights—click on the photo and you can see that some (near the top) are on. That could do something very interesting at night—highlighting the staggered placement of the balconies, if nothing else.
••• VBar at Front and Beekman in the Seaport is open. It’s cute!
••• From what I understand, the owner of the restaurant/bar under construction at 11 Sixth Ave. is married to the owner of Tribeca Tavern next door (which no one ever mentioned at the CB1 Tribeca meetings about it).
••• While walking through Soho, I noticed that menswear store Beau Brummel is having a going-out-of-business sale (after 56 years). It’s oat 484 Broome now.
••• The next meeting of the 1st Precinct Community Council is Thursday May 28, 6:30 p.m. at the 1st Precinct (Varick/Ericsson).
••• There’s “store for rent” signage up at Super Linda, and I don’t think there used to be—which leads me to believe the Geoffrey Zakarian restaurant isn’t happening.
••• A good sign: The floors at Gourmet Garage are being done. Thanks to Lauren for the pic.
