Yesterday’s Seen & Heard mention about the three-level retail space at 100 Barclay—specifically the southeast corner of West and Barclay—brought out a very interesting rumor. “Bloomingdale’s,” said someone with a connection to the building. “I’m a bit skeptical that this deal is done, developers being developers. They also say they have the Midtown lunch place Dishes lined up for the other corner.”

It’s certainly easy to see how Bloomingdale’s might want in on the retail boom happening in the World Trade Center/Brookfield Place area, following in the fancier footsteps of Saks Fifth Avenue; on the other hand, there have to be other big spaces around here with more foot traffic. (Commuters to and from Battery Park City favor Murray and Vesey, which have crosswalks at West Street.) Dishes, meanwhile, makes so much sense: Office workers at the World Trade Center, Brookfield Place, and south Tribeca have to be desperate for something besides Hudson Eats.

I tried reaching out to the 100 Barclay developers and to Dishes, but I haven’t heard back.
