Grandaisy Groupon
Today’s Groupon for New York City is $7 for $15 worth of Grandaisy baked goods. Here’s how Groupon works: First, you sign up to receive the daily emails (and I believe there’s an option to see today’s Groupon), which may or may not have an appealing offer. When you see one you like, you click […]

When Google Asks…
And I didn’t even know Google had a store! Gary Graham, whose boutique is on Franklin Street, has created an intentionally distressed T-shirt to be sold at googlestore.com. (It sure beats this T-shirt with the Gmail logo across the chest, $12.) The design incorporates the Google Maps red dot—”a global symbol to stand for where we […]

Civic Center: No Thanks
In today's Real Estate section, The New York Times notices that 20,000 live (roughly) between Church, Walker, Pearl, and Fulton, and writes a nice enough article about the joys therein. But then it goes and ruin everything by calling that area "Civic Center."

Room Upgrade
I stopped by the new Room today (it moved from Duane Street to the northwest corner of N. Moore and Varick). It looks great. The old space was nothing to sneeze at—I’d live there—but the new one has more character and, even better, natural light. / 1 comment
My Kind of School
When New York Vintners invited me to come to one of its many classes, I’m afraid I didn’t venture too far from my core interests: “Pizza and the Wines That Love It” had my name written all over it. / 2 comments
