Please do not push people off of their bikes! — Erik Torkells on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck
The danger is also from people riding bikes on sidewalks. And, goes without saying, the delivery people on the motorized bikes are a terror. After my small child was hit by a sidewalk bike rider, I have started pushing these people off their bikes when they come near me on the sidewalk. I encourage others todo the same. This seems to be the only effective method to force them off the sidewalk. Police do not ticket for this dangerous activity. — Janice on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck
I really wish 2WTC wouldn't happen. The Oculus deserves the open space. — Jana Gross on Seen & Heard: Wine Bar Opening Forecast
The OP said "bike path on the esplanade". Clearly she didn't mean the walkway. But, that said, I agree that the bikers on the bike path need to be issued a ticket or two. The crossing at Houston St. is particularly bad. There is a lot of vehicle traffic entering/leaving Pier 40 but most bikers pay no attention to the bike lane traffic signals. They need to be reminded that bikers are subject to all the same laws as motor vehicles. — Makes You Go Hmmm... on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck
I'm sorry but you shouldn't be cycling on the esplanade. They are toddlers running, pedestrians and especially the elderly walking, it's very dangerous. Btw at the site of last years cyclist death on west/chambers we witnessed a horrific crash today. a cyclist going full speed on the bike path thru the pedestrian crossovers on chambers crashed right into a very young girl at the same site of last years death. The young girl flipped over landed a somersault in the air landing on back of her head. I screamed! I thought she was dead. She eventually got up clutching her arm. The false alarm at Pace was super stressful and scary for parents of students attending the public school across the street as it occurred right around dismissal. Spruce Street school was in hard lockdown. It was hard to get any info, it wasn't til around 3pm when 1st Precinct tweeted that it was a false alarm. School officials sent out notifications an hour later. http://gothamist.com/2017/09/15/pace_evacuation_gun_belt.php — TribecaMom on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck
Per Wikipedia: Robert Alan Durst (born April 12, 1943)[1] is an American real estate heir, the son of New York City mogul Seymour Durst, and the elder brother of Douglas Durst, head of the Durst Organization. He is primarily known for being suspected of foul play against three individuals in different states: Kathleen McCormack Durst, his first wife, who disappeared in New York in 1982; Susan Berman, his longtime friend, who was murdered in California in 2000; and his neighbor, Morris Black, who was murdered in Texas in 2001. Durst was the subject of a multi-state manhunt and was ultimately convicted of dismembering Black, but acquitted of his murder. — James on In the News: New Sidewalk Shed Design to Debut on Murray
Slippery slope.... decline of civilization ... eventually you end up with Nero fiddling while Rome burns... I don't understand why I have to get "free" hits of Marijuana while walking my 5 year old to school at 7:30am Thank you mayor De Bl-ASS-io (sic) — Rohin on Trouble in the Mailroom

I live in the building. There is no dance floor. There is a floor, where people might dance I suppose. There's also no crowds from the water to the subway. — Steven Rowland on Trouble in the Mailroom
I love to ride my bike, too, but I also only ride it on the bike path. You can say what you want but it just isn't safe. Too many people are getting plowed into by cara and trucks. Very sad. My thoughts go to her family. — Janet on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck
I moved to Battery Park 2 years ago and have been lazily ordering wine online for a myriad of reasons. But mainly because I missed my old neighborhood gem on the UES and haven't found anything I loved in the area. I will be changing that ASAP and look forward to visiting Chambers Street Wines. This sounds exactly like what I've been looking for. Thank you for highlighting them and for the rec! — Jen on Spotlight: Chambers Street Wines

and yes, the Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadet is fantastic. — safe as milk on Spotlight: Chambers Street Wines
ok, i'll admit that i have been cheating on chamber street wines with trader joes ($4 la granja tempranillo). for years, i have been going there and telling them what we're eating and under $15 and not only do they never up sell me, they frequently find something cheaper. they have NEVER recommended a bad bottle. i can't wait to try the $8 La Vieille Ferme. — safe as milk on Spotlight: Chambers Street Wines
so sad about the cyclist. my wife stopped me from riding my bike on the streets. i'm now limited to the bike path on the esplanade. at first i objected but there are so many horror stories, that i have come to the conclusion that she is right. — safe as milk on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck

Unlike Hillary, more people voted against Chin than for Chin. — James on In the News: Chin Wins by 200 Votes
Locanda Verde? — Duane Street on Where in Tribeca…?
I voted on Tuesday, and I was the only person there. Frankly, it brought back memories of last year, all the hope and excitement around voting for Hillary and looking forward to a bright future with our first female President. Maybe it's just me, but I wonder if lingering depression around the disaster of that election put people off voting this time around. It took determination to get me back over there to the Tweed Courthouse, trying to feel hopeful again...and, yes, only to be disappointed once again, as the at best barely competent Chin beat Marte by a handful of votes and perpetuated the same old same old of bad government amid apathy. — Will on In the News: Chin Wins by 200 Votes
My husband is Chinese, so I'm Chinese by marriage. Neither of us voted for Chin. We supported Marte. — Will on In the News: The Argument Against Margaret Chin
"Why not just make the licenses easier to get, and keep some controls? Otherwise you could easily end up with nightclubs in residential areas." Indeed. Like we already have with M1-5. — Marcus on In the News: Cyclist Killed by Truck
