HI Erik, on late walk about this evening to check out the progress of 70 Vestry I found your VASE on the column right next to 67 Vestry Street .My colleague Joseph Altman and myself wanted to add some flowers to it as it could do to look a little prettier surrounded by all the garbage and scaffolding there! I almost didn't see it as a result. Keep up the good work. It's great fun spotting these treasures in Tribeca...Sonia F. Stock — Sonia F. Stock on Where in Tribeca…?
Will be a very sad day when/if you decide to step away. I certainly hope that doesn't include you leaving NYC as well. — alee on State of the Site

Please join Dr.lewis Gross, the founder and president for the first 10 years on celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Downtown Litlle League tomorrow at 9AM. We are the largest and most successful volunteer parent run sports organization in the entire state. TriBeCa residential popularity was founded on this program. — Lewis Gross on In the News: Steven Alan Retrenches
I was just thinking of suggesting a new column for you, and now I have to digest the news that the site may be no more! Your voice will be missed. PS My suggestion is for a Tribeca Citizen of the Month or Tribeca Citizens Who Rock along the lines of the profile of the WF security guard. The crossing guard at Church for the Worth Street construction made me think of it. He's so friendly! — Ellen on State of the Site
One Solution could be to make that right diagonal going west on White St to N Moore legal and put a stop sign facing south on the northwest corner of N Moore and West Broadway (for the few cars that turn right off beach st). Seems more efficient to me. Kind of similar to that right diagonal when you’re crossing canal going north from church to Greene street. And that street is a hundred times more trafficked and dangerous but they allow it there. — Sam G on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian

I keep thinking that installation is still being installed, but they seem to be done. It feels smothering — cami on Seen & Heard: Rumored Grocery/Restaurant
You do a great job with this! Amazing how far it's come. And, yes, your institutional knowledge and voice are key elements in TC's value. Hope you don't pass the torch too soon. It's an important source of local information for me. — Jon on State of the Site
Legally you can't make a right from the left lane (west Broadway) on Leonard Street. There is a divider and a no turn sign. You used to be able to hop over to varick on Franklin but now they've closed off that area (in front of Gotan) for citibikes. — Sam G on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian
Eric, good writers are thin on the ground. You have a special voice and that can't be replicated. Sure, someone can take over the site, but it won't be the same. You will be missed. So, can't we think of a good compromise? A weekly column? Some stringers to lighten the burden? Whatever you decide, good luck and Many Thanks. — betty on State of the Site
Oliver and Deborah were role models in so many ways. But having met them later in life, they have always been particular models for how I want to live in retirement: sharp, engaged, and always making a difference in their community. To me, moving into TriBeCa in retirement says it all. I miss them both. — Jenny on Remembering Oliver Allen
So true! Not only are the remaining spaces primarily empty, the new renters are for retail oriented for the most part. — DTmom on More on Acappella’s Move
Sorry to see this about Church Street Kitchen. My wife was the operator and co-owner back in 2012-2013. Hope something good comes in its place for a neighborhood we have very fond memories of...including the write up you did on us when we first opened, Erik! — Dan on Seen & Heard: Ward III Construction

Of the 21 comments, Mr. Smithers published 4 of them. Yet he criticizes others for having nothing better to do and for being selfish. Really? I suggest you crawl back into your self centered hole and take a hard look at yourself. Hypocrisy at its best. This was a fun festival and great for families. We always looked forward to visiting amd spending the day there. It's a shame some people are too caught up in their own reality to allow others the space to enjoy events like this. It may not be for everyone, but it was a unique annual event that will be missed by many. — Scott Andrew on The Tribeca Film Festival Is Not Throwing Its Street Fair
I remember walking through it pre-9/11, when the trees were there. I don't remember tables and chairs but there could have been. It wasn't a pleasant kind of space for some reason--too cavernous, maybe? — Hudson River on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse
Not helping themselves either..... way too many empty spaces reduces the marketability of what they have even further — Rohin on More on Acappella’s Move
That traffic pattern has never made any sense. If you don't make the illegal move right then and there then you have to go down to Worth Street (since you can't make a right legally until worth street). Oh actually, Worth Street is closed for construction right now, so you actually have to go 4 blocks to Thomas, then up hudson, right on beach, right on varick and then right on N. Moore. Plus that's quite possibly the least driven on street in Tribeca (and possibly lower manhattan). Never any cars there...too tempting. That being said, clearly that Jeep needs to be more careful and execute his move with a bit more stealth and precision. — Sam G on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian
Very good Italian food. There is so much unimpressive even bad Italian food downtown, Acapella never disappoints. So glad it is staying downtown. — Jean Grillo on Acappella Is Moving After 23 Years
Harley Davidson took over the POPs at 376 Broadway a year or so ago and it took a number of complaints to DoB, 311 and CB1 to finally have them stop using the POP as their private driveway. — TribecaMom on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse
Yesterday I was driving in from Long Island and was behind a black Audi SUV with NYP plates - Architect 229, I believe it was, and it was going very slowly in the left lane. As I went around him to pass as everyone else was doing, I saw that he was texting as he drove around 50 mph in the left lane. I don't expect too much from law enforcement these days! — Elizabeth on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian
Yesterday I saw one of the traffic officers watch a mercedes SUV drive around the temporary barricades onto the sidewalk at Washington and Watts. I questioned him as to why he didn't stop or ticket the driver. He told me that they don't write tickets. They just write down the license plate and notify authorities in NJ. He had no idea if any further action is taken. — Brett on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian
