  • Yesterday I was driving in from Long Island and was behind a black Audi SUV with NYP plates - Architect 229, I believe it was, and it was going very slowly in the left lane. As I went around him to pass as everyone else was doing, I saw that he was texting as he drove around 50 mph in the left lane. I don't expect too much from law enforcement these days! — Elizabeth on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian

  • Yesterday I saw one of the traffic officers watch a mercedes SUV drive around the temporary barricades onto the sidewalk at Washington and Watts. I questioned him as to why he didn't stop or ticket the driver. He told me that they don't write tickets. They just write down the license plate and notify authorities in NJ. He had no idea if any further action is taken. — Brett on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian

  • Channel 7 just did a story on POPS. 101 Barclay blamed closing on 9/11. — Makes you go "hmmm..." on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse

  • Regarding 101 Barclay, this may be a false memory, but I think before 9/11 there was public access to the lobby, which had foliage and tables/chairs and allowed a midblock cut-through for pedestrians. The lobby was significantly reconfigured sometime since then in a way that makes it unsuitable for a POPS — NV on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse

  • Been looking done since Feb ... PS - Is the Four Seasons trolling the neighborhood? The sculptures in that park look exactly like trees laden with plastic shopping bags. — jfrankp on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse

  • Think it is time to get a list of the 180 POPS, with required amenity details, go visit - and call 311 with complaints, starting with BNY. This has been going on forever. Trusting DOB to police this is laughable, given the looooong history of building inspector corruption scandals. — A. on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse

  • The plaza east of 111 Murray is 10,600 square feet. (There's more info on it at https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/2015/06/11/first-look-the-full-monty-on-111-murray/.) Somewhat ironically, the people most likely to use it are the workers across the street at 101 Barclay. — Erik Torkells on In the News: Public Plaza Abuse

  • Re: public space. Speaking of being taken by developers, did we learn the dimensions of the public plaza in the building rising on the old St. Johns plot? Lets do a sit in! Re: slow ticket sales for TFF. It's not inexpensive to go see these movies. Some of the movies are dated and of questionable quality. Also Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. There are so many other ways to see new or interesting movies. They need to adapt, as does every other film festival. • The other day I saw somebody attempting to avoid Holland Tunnell traffic on Hudson by taking a left on Laight, turning around and going reverse UP Greenwich (against traffic) for three blocks and then turning back towards Hudson on Watts. • I've seen traffic infractions like this all over the city--it's not just cops on West Broadway. I regularly see drivers going the wrong direction on streets and ignoring red lights . Add to the mix the pedestrians who cross against lights and in the middle of the block willy-nilly while reading/texting on their phones. Yesterday I saw two people walking against traffic in the middle of the West Side Highway. It's crazy out there, and I'm surprised more people are getting hurt. — Manhattanmommie on Wrong-Way Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrian

  • i don't know anything about this particular honey but the remedy is tried and true. bee pollen is even better than honey but it is an acquired taste. you need to start taking it over the summer to develop immunity for the following spring. it took my daughter about a year and a half to get rid of 90% of her spring allergies. she takes "elixir" which is mostly raw honey with a little bee pollen mixed in. i've been taking straight bee pollen every day for years. i recommend tremblay aviaries. they have a stand at the north end of union square park on saturdays. — safe as milk on Seen & Heard: Tribeca Honey
