I first met Rocco in the fall of 2000. I was a business traveler sent to Roc by my hotel concierge. I was seated in the back of the restaurant when Rocco approached my table and sat down with me. He made me feel part of his family immediately. He introduced me to a group of people next to me who shared their bottle of wine. From that night on, EVERY time I came to NYC from California on business (from 2000-2008) my first meal was at Roc's. I introduced my clients, arranged business dinners and met some amazing people at Rocs over the years. Many times when I walked through the door and it was packed, Rocco or veteran staff would pour my favorite red wine and visit with me until they could get me a seat. Rocco always asked me about my life and remembered each detail. He truly cared about me as a person. When I lost my accounts after the 08 crash, I still read every Roc email and published article regarding my NYC family. Many ask me where to go when they visit NYC, and I insist they must visit Roc. To this day, even after years of absence due to my business changing, I'm a loyal fan and always will be! Congrats to Roc and Stacy for living their dreams with passion and creativity to provide a loving and caring environment that goes beyond the food. The scaffolding on Broadway side of 5 Franklin place was just dangling and flopping around during the storm yesterday. One piece flew off and hit a pedestrian. I just put in a 311 complaint with DOB. My kids have grown up on Rocco's food. We had both my kids baptism parties there. One of my first dates with my husband was at Roc. When I was pregnant with my kids (and not feeling great) Rocco would make whatever I wanted just so I could eat something. They are truly family to us. We love seeign Rocco do his thing at Roc- there is no one as enthusiastic at wanting to make your dining experience the best it can be.
