"According to the sign outside Mariachi’s, we can expect the new location to open MONDAY." Fixed — James on Seen & Heard: Inside the Dogpound Gym
They were terrific people in 1985 when I worked next door to them (and of course became a client) and they're still terrific today! I left NYC 23 years ago and now live in Provence, but whenever I go back, I make sure I get an appointment during my stay! You-2 look great! — Manon van der Laan on Spotlight: Lance Lappin Salon
One time this summer, my husband and I were sitting at one of the tables in front of BMCC with our two year old toddler and few month old baby and we were aggressively asked to leave by a security guard. When we didn't leave we were told very rudely that the area was private property and we were trespassing. My lawyer husband asked to see the no trespassing sign and after some back and forth the security guard left us alone. I'm glad to see David's response and hope to be able to enjoy that area again. — GreenwichSt on Seen & Heard: Two More Closings
Those WTC Transportation Hub floors look really well polished. Wait for the first time people track in moisture from the likes of shoes and umbrellas. Might turn into a slip and fall lawyers dream come true. To be seen. — jpl on In the News: WTC Transportation Hub Opens on Thursday
One time, I was walking my toddler up and down the stairs at BMCC and was chased by security in a most discourteous (and ridiculous) way. The way this woman reacted, you would think I was driving a minivan up and down the steps. I'm glad to see there will be a reminder. — The Noisy Cat on Seen & Heard: Two More Closings
All of these "connections" should be taken with a grain of salt. You can probably take pretty much any huge company and within a few degrees, link it to a high level politician or business person. — lowphat on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
When we walked by Taco House, which was advertising a Chinese menu, a few days ago my 7YO wondered aloud why a place called Taco House would be serving dumplings. I think they should rename it to Taco Haus and add schnitzel to the menu. — NorthernTribeca on Seen & Heard: Two More Closings
Before there were bathrooms in the park, I remember bringing the kids into the college to use the facilities. I think this had to be an uninformed employee. The college has always been very hospitable to the community. — TribecaMom on Seen & Heard: Two More Closings

Sad to hear. I hope they reopen nearby. Exquisite food and dining experience. At one point they were making sushi rolls for Citarella. — Trib on Rosanjin Has Closed
I have been going to this Salon for many years on and off from when they first opened. My friend Mady, who has since passed away, had the most beautiful hair and told me I had to try it. They always you feel special and no matter who cuts your hair, you are going to love it. You don't get to stick around all these years and not be good. Here's to many more years Lance & Ivy. — annette milano on Spotlight: Lance Lappin Salon
I must say some of the most amazing moments of my life was while working For Lance and Ivy,the stylist became like my family. From being serious to laughing or water fights with the spray bottle on hot sumer days or every once in a cold day. Or even actual conflict that wasnt so much conflict affter all. Also the long deep talks of lance wanting us to be better so he would go on to inspire us and motivate us into being the best stylist he knew i could be. I must say I miss my Lance Lappin team/family, and i wish that there were more of you over here in NC. — Cathy Martinez on Spotlight: Lance Lappin Salon
I am still amazed that BPCA was able to move the contract for security away from PEP to Allied Burton. In all my years in the city and witnessing the blow up rats and union picket lines, how were they able to move union jobs into paid private jobs without any pushback. Why are we allowing security in BPC to be governed by Mall Cops. Why are we not calling for more of an NYPD presence. — TribecaMom on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
I know a little something about these guys, i remember the day they open there business, i had no doubt that there business would be successful, knowing both ivy and lance that they would open a beautiful and warm atmosphere salon, — cory on Spotlight: Lance Lappin Salon

Here is the story, from the Broadsheet: http://www.ebroadsheet.com/Entries/2016/1/28_Authority_Chair_Says_Cuomo_Administration_May_Be_Getting_Closer_to_Naming_New_BPCA_Board_Members,_But_Needs_Hints.html "Until recently, Allied Barton was owned by the Blackstone Group, a multinational private equity and investment banking giant, where Mr. Mulrow served as a senior managing director before joining the Cuomo administration in January, 2015, as the newly reelected governor began his second term. The selection process that led to the BPCA's hiring of AlliedBarton began a few months after Mr. Mulrow joined the Cuomo administration. In this process, the BPCA reviewed bids from more than 20 security firms. The Authority ultimately rejected multiple bids that were priced at less than half the cost of the $2.1 million contract that the BPCA eventually signed with AlliedBarton". — PeterD on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
Allied Barton is connected in some way to William Mulrow who is a businessman, investment banker, was a director at the Blackstone Group and was appointed Secretary to the Governor where he serves as a close trusted aide and advisor to Cuomo. — PeterD on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
It's a bit of a segue, but any further info on what appears to be a decline of stocked items at Whole Foods? Once the previous conversation here brought it to my attention, the shelves and freezers definitely have holes in them that you'd never have sen before... — RDunn on Supermarket Price Check!

Which is why it is so important to have the conversation since this is now two instances where the people involved had that false sense of security and the results, especially in the first instance, could have cost someone their life. Don't wait for someone else to take action. if you are in a position to help, without putting yourself in harms way, make the call. — TribecaMom on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
Wearing a uniform implies a position of authority. And yet these "guards" have less authority than regular citizens. I agree that if you know you are reporting something to someone with no authority to take control of the situation, then, of course, you should call 911 instead. However, the VAST majority of citizens are not going to know that these guards have to call their managers before calling 911. INSANITY!! — BPCMom on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
I agree that 911 should be called immediately by whoever is involved an incident that warrants it, rather than waiting for the security guards. That's especially true now that we know that they have no ability to intercede. The issue for me, as a BPC resident, is that our money is going to a security force that has no ability to keep us secure. They are less useful than suburban mall security. — Doug on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
You have a point but I think the general thinking when someone sees a "uniformed security" person is that that individual can offer you direct assistance. It's not common knowledge that these guys can't really do anything more than what a bystander can do. Therefore, most people don't bother to try to call 911 because they think help is already there. — lowphat on In the News: More Ineptitude from Battery Park City Security Guards
