Re 376 Broadway: Per Certificate of Occupancy 113287 dated 8/27/97, this building received valuable floor area in exchange for that public plaza. The motorcycle store has no right to monopolize the public space. "Floor area bonus of 22,516 SF for residential plaza has been incorporated into allowable floor area." And: "OPEN SPACE USES: PLAZA 3,752 SQ FT." This is the total footage I understand the public has the right too, not just a partial area. http://a810-cofo.nyc.gov/cofo/M/000/113000/M000113288.PDF Complain to DOB @ 311 — James on Seen & Heard: The Pier 26 Restaurant Is Still an Empty Shell
makes sense because they shot some scenes with the infamous ramrod in the background which is by christopher street. — josh on A Huge Leap Forward for Pier 26
Wowee, Smithers really is amazing! How many "Where in Tribeca?s" have there been and how many has he won? He really is amazing. I can't say it enough. Amazing. — Jim Smithers on Where in Tribeca…?

It's interesting how the actual letter from the parent of the boy describes 2 boys, 13 or 14 years old. Somehow, Broadsheet manages to turn that into "a gang on bikes" that robbed (they didn't end up taking anything) a resident. They even manage to further sensationalize the incident by describing the events by referring to a "group of boys" riding in "a pack" and describing it like there were at least 4 attackers involved. Not sure why they felt the need to pump the story full of steroids, rather than just telling the facts and trying to address the actual issue at hand. — lowphat on In the News: Loitering in Battery Park City’s Parks
Thanks for this -- and that pic of Pier 48 you linked to is amazing! (Will fix my misspelling of your name as soon as I get home) — Erik Torkells on A Huge Leap Forward for Pier 26
They also turned around and shot from the opposite direction and for a brief moment you can see Pier 40 behind them (1:49). So it does look like it was made on either Christopher Street Pier (Pier 45) or Pier 46, but in any case, not 26. — Rich Sackmann on A Huge Leap Forward for Pier 26
The decaying pier in the background is Pier 48 so this video was shot (at least in those scenes) south of that. http://gildedbirds.com/2013/11/28/gustavo-bonevardi/ — Rich Sackmann on A Huge Leap Forward for Pier 26
1. When do we expect these Fulton Center places to open? 2. I give Lot 77 6 months. Valiant effort tho. — John on Seen & Heard: Teenager Pepper-Sprayed for His Phone
Seven is definitely Harrison. And eight is Hudson between Duane and Jay. — Erik Torkells on Footage of Tribeca in the 1970s
First is Staple Second is Laight looking West towards Greenwich Third is Washington Street looking north towards Vestry Fourth is Collister Street looking south (between Vestry / Hubert) Fifth is Greenwich looking north towards Vestry Seventh is Harrison looking east towards Hudson and Puffys (I think) Great pics! — charango on Footage of Tribeca in the 1970s
thanks erik. the ymca video was the highlight of my morning. i would have guessed that that they are dancing on the christopher street pier. does anyone know what the dilapidated pier in the background is? my guess is it's the debrosses street pier which you can still see some pilings of in the water. — josh on A Huge Leap Forward for Pier 26
Not sure what you mean about the link to "The Walk" (which goes to a page on TC), but you can watch "News from Home" here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/233361 — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Has Man of the World Ditched Its Tribeca Plan?

Dinkins was a disappointing mayor in many ways but during his term he allocated the monies needed to upgrade and increase the city's park and green spaces. He also increased NYPD hiring and the crime rate decreased under his watch for the first time in decades. Wonder if they'll add a marina to include community sailing, like North Cove had before they screwed the Battery Park community by giving the RFP to an incompetent bunch of hacks — JJ on In the News: McNally Jackson Is Opening a Seaport Bookshop
I love the contrast of Staple Street in 1977 representing fear and decay and the same bridge in 2015 representing casual affluence and racial harmony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4TbOiaEHpM&t=0m8s — Dan Kohn on Seen & Heard: Tribeca in 1977
The Pier 26 rendering is a concept from a number of years ago. Design parameters for the pier are wide open, which is why the architects want to hear from the community. — Mr. Burns on In the News: McNally Jackson Is Opening a Seaport Bookshop
A longtime fountain pen user, I've been a local patron since moving to Tribeca in 2006. Terry & Steve have been instrumental in responding to my crazy questions and letting me peruse the inventory, and in return I've exposed countless friends and family to the joy of fountain pens. The December show is worth a walkthrough. I even "discovered" a few 50s-era pens in my mother's effects...untouched for decades...that they were able to fully restore. So while the hospital part of the name may not be as significant as it once was, it's still alive and well when needed! — John on Spotlight: Fountain Pen Hospital
