  • Completely underwhelmed. Vibe is upscale Parisian McDonald's. Ignored by staff. Actually had to ask for service. $5 fine an iced tea?!?! Nope. Won't be going back anytime soon. — harry40 on First Impressions: Maison Kayser

  • As District Leader I am supposed to have access to elected officials but after several sleepless nights and many calls to 311 about the noise all night around Duane St I had to read here in the Tribeca Citizen the cause of my dragging myself to my job bleary eyed. I even spoke with the DOT at the CB 1 quality of Life meeting last week and they knew nothing about sewer cleaning. But permits are required and I am going to look into this. If sewers are being cleaned it can be done before midnight. I have an ill husband and he suffered a great deal as well!! — Jean Grillo on Seen & Heard: Two More Shoots Tomorrow

  • The city has been doing road work on the corner of Broadway and White for the past 3 nights and they keep drilling/jackhammering til past midnight. Ridiculous how work can still go on in the middle of the night. — TribecaMom on Seen & Heard: The Spring Street Salt Shed Is Taking Shape

  • I will never understand the architectural choices being made recently for a neighborhood with our history. It's heartbreaking. But I suppose until the community board, our elected officials and tax payers have more power in blocking such development, all we can do is comment at the bottom of articles like these. Change must come on a much larger level in terms of oversight on development in NYC. I don't think there is another place in America where infrastructure is not created concurrent with development, and development created relatively unchecked, like it is here. At least there are only 47 units, and at over 3000 SF each hopefully this wont create more drain on public school seats. For that I suppose we can be grateful. — Tricia Joyce on Rendering Released for Northwest Tribeca’s Next Huge Building

  • -- and then there are the sanitary "wipes" that manufacturers wrongly claim are "flushable" and which have created a major sewage clogging problems in the neighborhood. — George Bacon on Seen & Heard: Two More Shoots Tomorrow

  • Tribeca stopped being Tribeca in 1913 when I was 15 years old. Now old man Rugby's diner is a gosh darn starbucks! I remember Jim Starbucks, he was a pennywit shuckster. And all these cars?! Where's a man to tie up his mule? — Older than you on Four Months to Get Out

  • It's horrid and sadly, it likely means yet another tear up of the intersection. I live on Chambers btw Church and B'way and it's pretty much been four years of hell. It's looking not bad now but soon they'll be tearing up the buildings on the south corners of Chambers and Church. That will be more fun to come! Sigh...city life. — Barbara on Seen & Heard: The Chambers Street Stink

  • It smells like a cracked sewage line. I think you can see the raw sewage in the grating in front of the pizza place. — Randy on Seen & Heard: The Chambers Street Stink

  • I think MK is a good addition to the neighborhood. I went the other day with my daughter. When they saw I had a stroller, the hostess immediately came to the door and helped me in with it - even though my daughter was walking next to me so it wouldn't have been difficult for me to get the stroller inside myself. We bought a few things and my daughter took her cookie out of the bag. As we were breaking it in half, part fell on the floor. The people behind the counter saw this and offered us a replacement right away. I was pleasantly surprised. Happy to have a business like this in the neighborhood even though I do miss The Harrison. — LIz on First Impressions: Maison Kayser

  • It's never been quite clear what they're doing now but they said the other day that they should be done by the end of the month: https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/2015/07/17/seen-heard-chambers-street-has-been-ripped-up-again/ — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: The Chambers Street Stink
