  • Welcome All Businesses Back to Tribeca! Kudos to Rick & Cd! FlashDancers was here long before other commentators (of course that's just a guess -- so hold the snark if I'm worrg). It's not up to FlashDancers to determine when schools open, but it is their RIGHT to OPEN for BUSNESS if that's what the guidelines say. So hold the snark in general. RE: 65 West B'way. See large hold in the ground and massive steel beams holding up building on Warren St. at NorthWest end of the lot. Someone didn't excavate properly properly or variation thereof. — Ben on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Wrong? How is it not a nightclub? They're offering live entertainment in the form of strippers. Therefore, live music should be permitted. Four fully clothed people playing music is safer than four barely clothed ones dancing. So what they've been open for three decades? — Nona D.Above on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Thank you so much Pam for your insightful journalism and your support of our local businesses. I wanted to mention one local business that may not fit into your holiday shopping categories, but it has been a Tribeca stalwart for 36 years - Trilogy Photo at 111 Chambers. They are doing custom framing services as well as selling ready made frames. They got the key maker and picture hanging hardware from Tribeca Hardware when they closed. And, maybe, since we won't be seeing our families, this is the year to send out photo Christmas cards which will support both a local business and the Post Office. Take in a family photo and Mark and his wife will turn it into a lovely card. Tel: 212-693-0210 — JSM on Happy Thanksgiving to all, and of course, thanks

  • Pam, Thank you so much for all you do to keep the neighborhood a neighborhood!!! Appreciate it so much. — Susan Duffy on Happy Thanksgiving to all, and of course, thanks

  • Support local businesses! (Including this one). I’d feel safer in Flash Dancers than in a school. — Cd on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Odd that you would edit my comment about BMCC cops but do nothing about the numerous criticisms of Precinct One police. Your site, your prerogative, I guess....not unlike Twitter and Facebook. — Makes You Go "Hmm-m-m" on Tennis court net is cut down in dark of night

  • I am confused as to why anyone would prefer trucks and cars over someone on a bike. A car or truck and can kill anyone. A bike rarely ever does. As far as free parking goes....welll then charge for the use of the streets to everyone. — PATRICK Valentino on CB1 rejected cargo bike parking alongside Whole Foods

  • This makes absolutely no sense at all!!! I have tweeted a few times at city officials calling their attention on this... im sorry but no... so this can open but schools are cant? cant wait for all indoor to shut down again.. — Rich on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • I think the complaint about the un-broken wall of docks, was that once you park your bike you are forced to either walk in the street, or jay walk to cross to a side walk. It’s just a bad design. IMO there should be side walk access every 20 docks. — Patrick Rice on Citi Bike is expanding in all sorts of directions

  • Is anyone in BMCC security monitoring the cameras in real time. Apparently not. — Makes You Go "Hmm-m-m" on Tennis court net is cut down in dark of night

  • Wrong. Why discriminate against a 3 decade old local business if they are following CDC protocols? I know plenty of restaurant owners that have done nothing to enhance their HVAC systems at all. These places are also much less crowded then a traditional restaurant at 6pm. — Rick on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Dear Tribeca residents and families: Tribeca Citizen helped raise awareness by flagging this. However, please be aware of additional critical points beyond lost parking discussed with CB1 on 11/23 at its 6pm meeting (to no avail given cargo bike parking was installed 11/24 at 8am): 1)SAFETY - Warren Street has heavy pedestrian and school traffic from 2 elementary schools+community center+ball field. Also, personnel cannot load bikes without cutting across sidewalk traffice in perpendicular fashion with their heavy carts. The next few months are unlikely to fully demonstrate the danger given many families have left, but this is a serious issue. 2)THERE ARE SAFER STREET OPTIONS - Amazon/WF had 3 other street options, including Murray Street which has a formal loading dock where this can be executed properly and SAFELY (for pedestrians and personnel). An objective to reduce carbon emission is great, however onous is on the company (Amazon/WF) to do this without endangering pedestrians and personnel. 3)LACK OF DUE PROCESS - There is heavy opposition from Tribeca community residents, Downtown Community Center and staff/families of two elementary school (P.S. 234 and P.S. 89) to install the cargo bike parking on Warren Street given significant safety concerns on also already busy street, and yet Dept of Transportation claims no opposition was raised in their "survey." This is not possible, just check out the replay from the CB1 meeting on 11/23. There is zero evidence of any proper survey and the community and residents deserve to be treated fairly and have a true voice in the process. If you share all or any of these concerns, please communicate your concerns and opposition to the following: Whole Foods (phyllis.tritto@wholefoods.com) cfung@council.nyc.gov gbrewer@manhattanbp.nyc.gov Chin@council.nyc.gov jerrold.nadler@mail.house.gov epincar@dot.nyc.gov jstaines@dot.nyc.gov jleung@dot.nyc.gov mcarrion@cityhall.nyc.gov speakerjohnson@council.nyc.gov gli@council.nyc.gov action@comptroller.nyc.gov lureynolds@cb.nyc.gov man01@cb.nyc.gov — Tribeca_resident_parent on CB1 rejected cargo bike parking alongside Whole Foods

  • In the post I linked to the nyc.gov site and noted that even the week before the rates were below 1 percent. They do change regularly since it is a 7-day average. Your numbers are not correct as of today and frankly I don't think your number was correct on the 26th either. You can check yourself right now. — Tribeca Citizen on Where we are on the virus

  • It's none of those, it's a nightclub. A gym can't reopen but this joint can pssshhhhh. Just what a neighborhood with a 3% infection rate needs: a strip club where the masked, socially distanced dancers still emit aerosols via body sweat. ' Love the selective enforcement. This is the last place which should reopen. — Nona D.Above on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Pam, it is we who should be thanking you. I have always appreciated and lauded your efforts but this year, with everything topsy-turvey you have been one of the few constants. You are a champion of Tribeca be it people, culture, food, retail, local government affairs, and weekend get-away adventures you share as a neighbor. At least once a week I forward one of your articles to a friend, or tell my husband a bit of local news and he always smiles and says “Tribeca Citizen?” and I always respond, “of course, where else?” On a personal note, thank you for your help when I have reached out looking for a photo or just sharing your memories of the Culinary Institute. So I am giving thanks to you and your work (yes, readers, this takes a lot of work). Giving thanks to you for allowing both the lovers and the haters to comment (we cannot combat hate we cannot see) and your reporting which is unbiased but authentically opinionated (which allows us to relate and engage whether we agree or not). And lastly, yes, thanks to your advertisers who enable you to continue providing all of us with the Tribeca Citizen. Peace, love and good health to you and your family. Peter — TheBlackSquirrel on Happy Thanksgiving to all, and of course, thanks
