  • Cocoon has not been serving any food or beverage indoors since the renewal of the indoor dining ban. I imagine this will be used once indoor dining is permitted again. It saddens me to see all the negative comments about a family owned business in our neighborhood that is providing a deeply needed and safe service to our community. When parents have a space to take children outside of their small apartments, it increases the probability that they stay here in tribeca and support our other small businesses. Let’s do what we can to encourage small businesses here - not chase them away. — CLD on CB1 Licensing Committee approves beer and wine license for Cocoon

  • Curious if anyone remembers a restaurant called Rachel's Ribs, which was like a Tony Romas. I worked there when it first opened in 1983. Would love to see a photo. This is amazing! — Jennifer on Tribeca in the 1980s

  • I saw one of the managers on the street and he said they are open for pickup and delivery. Incidentally, Sweetgreen, their next door neighbor, has limited their hours to 11-3, Monday-Friday. • The Fidi location seems to be a bit quicker as far as the wait for sign up and actual test. I went at 10:45 yesterday morning to sign up and there was zero wait. A guard outside signs you up on an iPad. I was texted to come back at 3:45 and was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Yes the wait was 5 hours but if you live nearby it's no big deal. And I think Michael Huber is right. We noticed on our insurance statements that they are charging $300 for these tests. If you look at places you pay out of pocket for testing it's usually around $150. There is no cost to the patient at CityMD, but that's quite a profitable 15 minute appointment. — Kristin on Working the line at CityMD

  • I started going there when I worked on Murray Street about 1990. My boss went there at least 2 times a week.. so I used to go there about two to three times a month. Don't remember any of the waiters at this point but I do remember the owner and his name was Sergio. He treated my boss like gold & his guests. My boss Fred was a big spender and good tipper. If it wasn't on the menu they would make it for us. All the employers were very nice to us. The food was excellent.. I'm not hearing anything about Sergio who did open this restaurant. I wonder if he sold it after we closed the business in 1998-99. Wondering if anyone knee him or heard anything ! — Laura on Has Il Giglio Closed?

  • I don’t know anything about this place other than that it’s there, but FWIW there’s a tent/van under the FDR at the end of Wall Street that’s doing tests. I walk by there several times a week, usually late morning/early afternoon, and have only seen one person who seemed to be using it, so no lines. Their web site is labq.com (this location is not listed on the website) and the tent says “Gold standard PCR Covid testing / With no out-of-pocket cost.” — Hudson River on Working the line at CityMD

  • " I presume this is done so that CityMD can charge more to your insurance" bingo. one of the small percentage of businesses that are making more than they ever imagined due to covid. — nyc on Working the line at CityMD

  • Not saying don't build...build within the allowed zoning...they could put an amazing structure with hundreds of units that fits the area...most of the Seaport stores were supported by the hundreds of thousands of workers from local office towers, businesses and tourism...that needs to return to boost all of Downtown. That's why businesses are closing left and right...can't replicate those numbers with one out of scale building. — TK on Landmarks hosts hearing on towers for 250 Water and the expansion of the Seaport Museum

  • In 1976, when it was still a cafeteria, I could have a full, fresh-cooked breakfast for about $1.25. I believe Odeon still prints its version of the tickets we got out of a machine before we slid our trays along the metal rails, as we chose our food. By the way, I finally remembered the name of the coffee shop before it was Socrates (at Hudson and Franklin, now Tamarind)--the Evansville. — Jane on Seen & Heard: Mea Culpa?
