Laughing Man is delivering some products. See post here. Also, Cafe Atelier is open, which I just noticed recently. — Tribeca Citizen on Starbucks has both closings (for good) and openings
Thanks for the update on Starbucks openings. I am excited for our local coffee shops to open too (especially Laughing Man!), but glad to know that we can get something in the interim. — Rise and shine on Starbucks has both closings (for good) and openings

I am so saddened by this news. He was such a nice, soft-spoken, thoughtful doctor who always made me feel as though he wasn't trying to rush to the next patient. I trusted his judgment because I I know he cared. When we were chitchatting, he would always talk about his kids, of whom he was exceptionally proud. I am not at all surprised by the outpouring of love for him. My deepest condolences to his family. — Dave McGrail on Dr. Nisar Quraishi dies from the coronavirus at 74
Well, if the bikes were on the highway they would have to stop for the light and then you can cross. Bikers don't stop for anyone. This is a no brainer for the time being. I will write to anyone to get it done. Because as soon as the weather gets warmer and kids don't have school nor camp and no play grounds, there will be more and more people on the path. Lets try and make it safe for everyone. — toni on Staying safe in local parks: What you can expect
That would be too easy Toni. Remember: what is elementary never gets done or only gets done when someone gets injured or killed. That is the rule of Bloomberg and now De Blasio. De Blasio is an idiot. It takes eight people being mowed down and killed in that bike line for him to install bollards. He closed NYC public schools in early-middle March not before March thus put thousands of children and adults in harm's way. He has the Great Lawn open when it should be closed. He will reopen that stupid pedestrian mall in Times Square. He will cut down on subway cleanings. He'll think we're in the clear and act accordingly. He's just as useless as Trump. He is an incompetent fool - see everyone including myself turning to Governor Cuomo for information and assurance. No one wants to hear from or even see De Blasio - I know I don't. I can't wait til he's out of office. We need a truly progressive mayor not a developer's shill like DeBlasio. You know who else needs to go? Jerry Nadler, Margaret Chin, Deborah Glick, and Brian Kavanagh - four total zeros none of us ever hear from. Seriously when was the last time Deborah showed her face anywhere? Brian? (who was selected not elected - true story look it up he was appointed by the NYS bigwigs then "elected" against a typical idiot GOP sacrificial lamb.) — De BlasiGO on Staying safe in local parks: What you can expect
For 12 years Dr. Quaishi was my doctor. He was a great person. He treated me respectfully and gave me the feeling I was almost a friend. In February this year I visited him at Langone to check on my coughing. The visit was very short. He said my coughing was from a cold not Corona. A firm handshake from the doctor and advised me to take my medicine because "I want to see you around for a long time". Sadly, this was the last word I heard from him ..... I wish I could take care of him.. Goodbye my friend. I miss you. Hermann Platschka — Hermann Platschka on Dr. Nisar Quraishi dies from the coronavirus at 74
I’m glad to hear of their reopenings. I like Starbucks and many have good service. They are WAY cheaper, FYI, than most other coffee shops, as I’ve witnessed hugely in these recent weeks. Large dark roast red-eye other places has been $5.50 to $7 elsewhere and it’s a lot smaller. Not kidding. S’bux is $4.30 and twice the size. Anyway I’ll be going back! — PNK on Starbucks has both closings (for good) and openings
I thought of using that far west lane too Toni. It's a terrific idea and requires no infrastructure. Let's write to Jumaane Williams office and, who else...? — Heide Fasnacht on Staying safe in local parks: What you can expect
You are disgusting Stay home and stop spreading the virus without a mask And shame Tribeca Citizen for promoting this arse — Peter Kent on A man, a bike and an empty city
To: Hmmmm and Mmmm..hmmmm...: I can see why you’d think I paid for this feature. The comments are warm, and complimentary and kind. And, I too, am skeptical of most of what I read on social media. I get irritated when something is presented as one thing, and turns out to be another. So, I get it. But the post is not ‘sponsored’ and the comments are real. They just happen to be shared by clients I’ve photographed, or friends I know from living downtown for the better part of my adult life. It's worth noting that everyone I photograph becomes a friend--if they weren’t already one to start with. I’m fortunate that they feel so free to say nice things about me, as I do about them. When I re-shared Pam’s post which so concisely lays out the info about my class and how to register, (thanks Pam!) people I adore noticed, and they then took the time to support my effort, to support others, by leaving kind comments. A lot of us small business owners have been hit hard by Covid-19, and have yet to receive any aid—despite our efforts. Others who work for corps have been laid off and have no idea how they'll support themselves and their families. But we’re doing everything we can to give each other shout outs, and spread positivity around wherever we can, because we don’t know what the future holds, and we don’t know how long it will take to recover from what will surely become an even more severe recession. We’re all trying to adapt to this new world order. Last: Pam Frederick/Tribeca Citizen obviously doesn’t need me to defend her. She’s a veteran journalist and educator and she’s already posted her response here. But, I know her well enough to know that she’d never try to pass off a sponsored post as an editorial one. And I appreciate the hard work she puts into Tribeca Citizen. She consistently goes out of her way to support her neighbors and those who make this place special. I couldn’t be more grateful. — Kimberly M. Wang on Local photographer offers free webinar to benefit relief efforts
I am devastated. I heart goes out to his family and all that loved him dearly. He was a kind, caring, loving doctor who helped me when I needed his care most. I will miss him dearly. May he Rest In Peace. — Yosef Seifu on Dr. Nisar Quraishi dies from the coronavirus at 74
Yeah, let's make it even harder for vehicles to navigate this city. Meanwhile, you know what I want? I want the arrogant bike riders to obey their bike lane traffic signals, especially at the Houston St. entrance to pier 40. — Makes You Go "Hmm-m-m" on Staying safe in local parks: What you can expect
Preach! — Ivan on Starbucks has both closings (for good) and openings
I am shocked and saddened by this news. Thank you Dr.Quraishi for being my doctor for 30 years. Thank you for taking such good care of me all those years and then taking care of my husband too. Thank you. May you Rest In Peace. And I wish love and peace to your family. — Judy Scuffle on Dr. Nisar Quraishi dies from the coronavirus at 74
I am terribly saddened by this. I had been seeing him for 15 years and was always impressed by what a fine man and doctor he was. A real doctor with bed side manner and very wise. He was honest and had tremendous values. My thoughts go out to his family. My heart hurts for them. Sacha Miller — sacha miller on Dr. Nisar Quraishi dies from the coronavirus at 74
