  • grey dog is a great, affordable place to eat. it will be a welcome addition and certainly serve more locals than ecco, plus it is not a rowdy crowd and they barely service wine and beer. not sure why there would be any resistance to this, considering you could also get a freaking pret or serafina in the storefront! — hmmmmmmm on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?

  • By far the best Lobster fra diavolo with linguini that I’ve ever had. Perfect every time. My wife and I would order a Caesar salad, clams oreganata, chicken scarpariello, and the aforementioned lobster and share it all. Excellent service and the atmosphere is of a bygone era. I hope they can recreate that if they do relocate. The place is a gem. — Michael Cavallo on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?

  • Great pics! But the ones highlighting the terrific art deco lobby, evidently kept in tip-top condition, point up the unfortunate reality that it, like the even more astonishing one at the Woolworth building, is closed to the public. Surly a system for allowing the public in on certain days might be devised? I have lived in the nabe long enough to remember when one could breeze through both of them at will . . . — George Bacon on The view of the neighborhood from 60 Hudson

  • Would love to see them move to the corner of Hudson where Acappella was. — Tribeca Mom on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?

  • First demolition then construction on the right, then demolition then construction on the left... can’t wait for some underneath! Gotta love the Friedmans! — just_another_resident_scapegoat on J&R’s music history will be preserved in (another!) new City Winery venue

  • The soul of the neighborhood is being hollowed out. What we'll be left with are a bunch of interlopers pretend acting in a once great place to live. — MS on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?

  • This is the most disappointing news. 18+ years in the neighborhood and this has always by far been my favorite restaurant. The food and service are always consistent and always feel like home. I could eat their pollo margarita every day of the week, 365 days a year. Exactly what a neighborhood restaurant is meant to be. Please find a lease in the neighborhood! — JD on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?

  • I'm just soooo tired of this. Wonderful businesses like City Winery and that lovely little architectural firm getting booted from prime locations because of landlords like Trinity and corporations like Disney. Yeah, yeah, CW is building a new space over on the Hudson. But I liked this space and location. Get off the 1 train on the way home from my job on the UWS to see the likes of Glen Tilbrook, then jump back on back to Bay Ridge. A perfect night. Not to mention the renovation of the upper level of CW to create another concert space The Loft. Trinity encouraged this, knowing they would evict CW and raze the entire block for Disney. What wankers. Yeah, I called the "church" wankers. They asked for it. — Robin Shaud on First renderings for Disney’s HQ at former City Winery block

  • Just so everyone knows, in 2017 Tribeca Trust (www.tribecatrust.org) did a zoning challenge for this site that was filed by George Janes on our behalf. We raised the money to pay for that challenge among neighbors here in Tribeca, none of whom lived on that block - just people fed up with the incremental destruction of Tribeca. We found that there were a huge number of deliberate mistakes in the filings that were a crude attempt to inflate the FAR by about 20%. We were successful in that challenge and the DOB had to make Cape Advisors "correct" the errors, not by enough to stop the senseless tragedy that these demolitions represent, but I hope enough to eat away at Cape Advisors profit margins. This was unrelated to the current situation and stop-work. I urge Tribecans to help us file zoning challenges wherever we can - if they don't stop demolitions they can shrink the building that comes up. — Lynn Ellsworth on Stopwork order slows progress at 65 W. Broadway

  • Welcome to a new owner that lies. Our lobby has been under construction for 2 years, with only 2 of 6 elevators for a full apartment building. Ask them about the rooftop that now is no longer. • Good news to report. Went to Ecco last night. It is in fact leaving that space, but they will be looking for a new place to land - hopefully in the neighborhood and hopefully relatively quickly. It's a one of a kind place. — Elizabeth on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?

  • I bit of a typo in the article, we have a long term lease with HRPT for City Vineyard all good, it was City Winery on Varick that Disney gave us the demo clause, due to a false lie by Trinity. Also, we are paying rent. But my point is that is "partnership" and not a normal rent paying arrangement, but building a project together... Nevertheless, this will be a great downtown night spot, cool, great food, great culture and keeping the J&R legacy going. — Michael Dorf on J&R’s music history will be preserved in (another!) new City Winery venue

  • The last time I visited gray dog on carmine was when I was yelled at and asked to leave for reading a book after my sandwich and still drinking my second latte.... Really rude crude owners -- very not cool -- lasting impression -- never again! — JK on Ecco! at the end of its era in Tribeca?
