vornado bought into the complex with Stella. Same piece of garbage landlord — Native on In the News: Politicians Push Back on P.S. 150 Move
I wish them well, as I do any new business in our neighborhood. The bread was good. Still, I prefer eating local as much as possible. — MME on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
We had brunch at 1803 two weeks ago. Everyone sitting near their outdoor planter had to move because of the bees. They weren’t aggressive, but they were all over us and our food. I wondered why there were so many. — A. on Seen & Heard: Aggressive Bees
Looks promising...I wonder if they have any vegan options. Always on the lookouts for good vegan pastries! (My favorites are from PeaceFood on Union Square, but haven't found anything similar in TriBeCa area...) — Marcus on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
@MME - that should not deter you. It's quite common to have dough shipped as dealing with it is costly and takes a lot of space. Frozen dough is just as good as fresh and this will be more authentic. Greek from Greece (or whatever they are called) has the same model. — Michael T on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
This place is the real deal! Very happy to have quality bread in the neighborhood. — Joanna on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
It's being renovated into a park, with a cohesive design instead of a separate fenced-off green area and plaza. You can see renderings here. I don't know whether the work is still on schedule, but my understanding with these projects is that the difficult, time-consuming stuff is what happens underground; the planters, etc., won't take as long. — Erik Torkells on Seen & Heard: Greca’s New Menus
yikes is the word. this has been going on forever & every time it looks they are be done it gets ripped up again. what are plans once they are finished. does anyone know? — Elisabeth Biondi on Seen & Heard: Greca’s New Menus
Beautiful store - I wish them luck! — Anon on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
Re: kicking out ps.150 is Vornado Realty and when you look at their website they tout and value corporations...they dont want nor care about the community. — Tk on In the News: Politicians Push Back on P.S. 150 Move
While the bread is baked fresh at the store everyday, I was told the "dough is flown in from Europe." (I presume from Poland.) I found this very odd...and will deter me from going back. — MME on New Kid on the Block: Just Baked! Nowakowski
Wish they were expanding. Heard great things about the doctors but could not get an appointment as a new patient for weeks nor even a sick kid new patient visit. Office staff was horrible... — TK on Seen & Heard: Gentleman’s Barber Spa Has Opened
I've started seeing Dr. Freda Gu, whose offices are located at 145 Chambers Street, and she's great - highly recommended, and right in the neighborhood! — Will Meyerhofer on Seen & Heard: Gentleman’s Barber Spa Has Opened
I, on the other hand, travel uptown from here to see doctors in the Weill Cornell system. I’d love to have a good one down here. Anyone willing to recommend a primary care doc (happy to do this offline — maybe Erik would be willing to facilitate an exchange of emails if anyone agrees)? — Wendy on Seen & Heard: Gentleman’s Barber Spa Has Opened
I lived at 144 Chambers St and worked for the DoD at 60 Hudson Street - before moving work to Varick ST. later on... It was the mid 70's when I was working and hanging out there at 60 Hudson and Barnabas Rex was my bar of choice back then (Duane St and Hudson) and also Puffy's bar. Those were the days... — Debbi Hartley on Tribeca Then and Now #1
Wow thank you for the heads up re Rosie Assouline sale!!!!!!!! Although my husband is less than thrilled... — T on Seen & Heard: New Kids’ Theater
There is still the REI inside the puck building at Houston and Lafayette. They have fairly similar collections of hiking shoes. I got a pair of Keen's 3 years ago at Tent & Trails, and an identical pair one year ago in REI. But Tent & Trails didn't have that corporate feel that REI has. Also, it was always nice to walk in and exchange a polite 'Tashi delek' with the Tibetan mountaineering experts on staff. — Stan O'Connor on Tent & Trails Will Close Temporarily
re: the article about 28 Liberty. It actually says they only re-valued the property at $1.6 so that they can take on a financial partner while still holding majority control. — lowphat on In the News: Politicians Push Back on P.S. 150 Move
Manny I totally agree!!! Its awful! Stella, Vornado whatever you want to call them have no regard for anyone, tenants, neighbors etc. Our supermarket is next to go. The block will be dark and quiet. They get away with total corruption for tenants and neighborhood. They did work on terraces without even checking to see if the debris was safe. Someone should investigate that! — Native on P.S. 150 Is Losing Its Lease
here we go with Stella Management again. There selfishness is unprecedented! The big landlord will win again and buy all the politicians! You watch! — NATIVE on In the News: Politicians Push Back on P.S. 150 Move
The imaging center on Brennan is great. They have a locker room similar to what you’d find at Equinox or Flywheel. On the way out, patients get goody bags with snacks. Obviously I hope no one NEEDS their services, but if you do, it’s not a bad place to get it done. — Anna on Seen & Heard: Gentleman’s Barber Spa Has Opened
the unwelcoming views by some Peck Slip parents and Staff upon the possibility of PS150 going there reminds me of how unwelcoming other schools were to students, staff, and parents when PS234 had to relocate while the school was being cleaned and the area was not safe. Human nature is so selfish and uncaring sometimes; sad. I hope PS150 can remain where it is for the sake of everyone, especially those territorial minded folks. In the Meantime, Vornado and Stellar Management continue on their quest to think of ways to amass as much money as they can without regard to neighborhood services and using empty retail spaces to claim losses on their taxes. Shame on them. — Manny Cabrero on P.S. 150 Is Losing Its Lease
I loved the lunch German spots are too expensive I used to live in ridgewood when it was German too much German knockoff food that's super cheap but nothing beats the real stuff xschus johnny — John gille on Private: Blaue Gans (Closed)
There are a lot of matching details between the old and newer photo that point to 456 Greenwich. -The 4 long thin vertical vent pipes are identical, down to the horizontal metal brace at their midpoint. -The short, fatter vertical vent is in the same place (to the rear) relative to those 4 thin lines (under the mailbox in the newer photo.) -The brick wall of 458 is under the modern stucco. -The manhole cover in the foreground was still there at least shortly before the garage closed. -The mandoor to 456 is the same, right down to the electrical conduit above, the window above, and vertical metal edge to the left (at the truck bay) painted yellow in the newer photo. The truck is owned by "Apple Fibers Inc." a firm then in the wastepaper business, with business addresses over time at 444 and 451 Greenwich Street. The wastepaper business was a prominent industry in that area and at 456 Greenwich, prior to its use as a parking garage. — James on Tribeca Then and Now: The Unknowns (Part 3)
My physician, who's on the 4th floor, told me that as far as she knew, the Weill Cornell Ophthalmic center will occupy the ground floor. The system has built a lot of new facilities in the neighborhood, within existing structures. They have a new imaging center on Beekman street that's terrific. — David G Imber on Seen & Heard: Gentleman’s Barber Spa Has Opened
