  • it's nicely done for sure but it is a damn shame that there is almost nothing left from the original 1828 house. it's not the current owners' fault. it's pretty obvious that when these houses were redone in the 70s almost everything on the interior and exterior was replaced. if you look at the stoops and lintels they are cookie cutter reproductions. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gaiw80lq7hkbdc2/AACSdzeSQcK_7QzfbKerA1V9a?dl=0 — safe as milk on Loft Peeping: Harrison Street Townhouse

  • I lived there for over 30+yrs and the photo on there teaser site is actually my families old apartment. 5A on the top floor with the skylights. My father actually put one of the three in. All the original families (7 of us) vacated/left that building in or around 2004-5. Last I checked my old AC was still in the window but not today looks like there actually starting to work on it. Boy do I miss that place. — AA on More Artists’ Lofts Are Being Converted to Luxury Condos

  • It's a disgrace indeed. By the "mess" on Walker, did you mean LIspenard? That's where the "vendors" camp out and take over the entire sidewalk. No wonder there are no takers for the beautiful--and once again vandalized--bank building. Yes and all the creepy sellers hanging around on the corners and blocking the subway entrances is awful. Rude and pushy with their "Rolex, Rolex". Has anyone tried emailing or calling these officers during a time when these sellers are out in force? — Marcus on Meet Your New Community Police Officers

  • I wonder what happened to Magoos' art collection. Many artists traded art work for food. — Huck's Mom on In the News: Danny Meyer’s Sky-High FiDi Restaurant

  • I hope that funds will be found for the estuarium and that the River Project, which had been in existence for over 30 years providing educational programs and exhibits of the living marine life of the Hudson, will be a major part of it. The River Project was instrumental in getting the waters of Hudson River Park established as an Estuarine Sanctuary. protected by environmental conservation law. Long time residents of Tribeca will remember the shed that held exhibits and sponsored activities on pier 26 before it was shut down for renovation. They are continuing their work from a space on pier 40 while waiting to return to pier 26. It would be wonderful for them to be able to continue their important work in a permanent new home. — Huck's Mom on The Final Design for Pier 26

  • Wow, so great to see that photo of Magoo's. When I was a kid, we would to go there in the daytime to play video/pinball. They were one of the only places in the neighborhood (besides Laundry Loft) that had video games. — Shelley G on In the News: Danny Meyer’s Sky-High FiDi Restaurant

  • I asked my cashier at the 6th Ave. Trader Joe's today about the Soho store. He hadn't been, but the rumor is it will have 50 cash registers. For comparison the 6th Ave store has around 30. — SD on Seen & Heard: Trader Joe’s Opening in Two Weeks?

  • Maybe too safe. She's giving our children a false sense of safety and the real world will be brutal to our little angels. Self-driving cars will wreak havoc on those that believe there will always be a "Denise" to protect them. Wake up, peopledom!
