They have absolutely killed one of the most iconic views in the western hemisphere. — Bynorthemore on The First Real Look Inside Pier 17
You uncharacteristically don’t really say what you thought of it (“dramatic” can go either way). I realize it was a cloudy day but it all looks so depressing in the photos. That last “ dramatic” passageway looked like I would be afraid of something falling on my head. I realize it’ll be livelier when there’s stuff in there, but it reminds me of the Fulton Center—there was all this hype about how “light-filled” and beautiful it would be, but every time I walk in there it’s so dreary that I just want to leave. What do you think this will be like as a public space? — Hudson River on The First Real Look Inside Pier 17
Those helicopters are from the 160th special operations aviation regiment. They are the best helicopter pilots in the world. The guys on the rails are of the caliber of guys that did the Bin Laden Raid and other operations that we haven’t heard of. They train in cities all over the country and usually notifications go out locally- they are operating under the supervision and permission of the city, and city assets usually get in kind training for their time- you should look them up on YouTube to see their capabilities as they are remarkable men and women. It’s scary, but those are the good guys, take a minute to appreciate how skilled those air crews are. — Jim on Military Helicopters Scare Lower Manhattan
These helicopters are military. They are part of the 160th SOAR, the US Army’s Special Operations Aviation Regiment. These pilots are the best in the world. They are participating in a RUT (Realistic Urban Training). I understand it can be scary but training scenarios like this test their limits and capabilities. — BKR on Military Helicopters Scare Lower Manhattan

Yet another soon to be bar/club/lounge masquerading as a/an art/creative/event space. It's just another bait and switch, luring and doing the song and dance to CB1 on to get the liquor licenses. And they went directly to SLA, which is more corrupt and gullible than most Community Boards. And once they get the liquor license -- wam, bam, than you ma'am. — JOR on The Debate Over Town Stages
And they are flying now 4/20/2018 between 1 and 2 PM off BPC. Up and down the Hudson. What is going on? Why aren't we getting the usual heads-up with this air traffic? — maryanne braverman on Military Helicopters Scare Lower Manhattan

Since the words accusation and hearsay were used by Erik I would like to add a few. There is an accusation of trespassing being made against me personally by Town Stages. On Tuesday I will be "turning myself in" at the 1st Pct due to their complaint against me. Their complaint arises from the FACT (not hearsay) that they repeatedly propped their White Street door open during an event on 4/12 which is in direct violation of their agreement with the community and the SLA. There were witnesses and there are photos - that's why it is a fact. As no phone number for either of the Sokoloff's has yet been provided for complaints (another CB1 stipulation that has been ignored) there was no way to complain without entering the space and asking for one of them which I then proceeded to do. So, I freely admit I was in their space - the door was wide open, I peered in and before I even entered a very nice woman (who did not work for Town Stages ) but was an event organizer invited me to come take a look around. I believe that is legal and legitimate - she even handed me literature which I kept. Just as an aside, my eyes were open as I need to keep them open when I walk, and I observed the Town Stages people were serving wine and beer which is interesting since they do not yet have a license to do so. I complained to their employee about the open door and asked to speak to the Sokoloff's as that is the stipulated procedure - neither was "available" so I was asked to wait which I did. The employee eventually went, shut the door and then asked me to leave which I did. One more little oops - the TS assembly permit clearly states they need to have people at the exits that have city certificates of fitness in case of emergency - neither exit had such a person there. Several days later I was emailed by the TS "liason" who stated he wanted to keep the neighbors happy and wanted to meet with me and anyone else. I informed him that all they needed to do was abide by what they had agreed to. I also asked him if he would be kind enough, in the interest of building trust with the community, to send me a copy of whatever liquor license they were serving under. Haven't seen that yet. There answer apparently is to have me arrested! Thanks TS - I've always wanted to spend a few hours in jail and btw you are off to a great start with the community. So I will go and obey the law but the real question here is - when will Town Stages do the same??? A number of my neighbors as well as CB1 have lodged complaints and inquiries regarding this event and I just learned they have also called the police regarding another neighbor. — Andrew Scheman on The Debate Over Town Stages

So tired of people using the term "bullying" when confronted with differing opinions (even when made w/ a little snark or humor). That's not bullying... it dilutes and detracts from the children and/or adults who face real world, real life bullying. This is the comments section of a local website; people may disagree with each other & have strong opinions on the subject - that's life... IT IS NOT BULLYING. Good grief. — Jeff on Military Helicopters Scare Lower Manhattan
I heard the tour director say that there would NOT be any vendors set up in the open spaces of the village. They would have street furniture (seating areas) but no vendors. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on The First Real Look Inside Pier 17

Hi, I live in a highrise in NJ 9th floor and heard the loud helicopters coming over our building and watch them going towards NYC and although far I could see them without lights flying low and between the buildings. Only one had a red light. I was worried too, I figured and prayed it was a drill but still it was scary and you keep wondering. I just googled right now cause I still wonder and found all your responses. Wow. — Madaleine on Military Helicopters Scare Lower Manhattan

The wine at frenchette is quite honestly awful. I love organic anything, but their selection of wine undrinkable. I can appreciate their effort but the finished product doesn’t work. My recommendation... bring your own wine! — Bdq on In the News: Fixing the Canal Street Problem
This is the price that all of you pay to live the lives you live in this country. These aren’t hacks, they are obviously Tier 1 units, who are training for the unthinkable. You will never get a heads up bc that would compromise their presence and believe it or not there are people who would take that opportunity to try and harm or observe the tactics of these units. So I am sure they are sorry for scaring you but they would make it up to you by giving their life for you. So just eat your Kale, sip your Chai Tea, watch Netflix and let the big boys do what they need to do and be glad they are doing it. — Pluto on Military Helicopters Scare Lower Manhattan
