Those are fantastic, but would be so much better if you could put present day shots next to them. — Dan Kohn on More Photos of Old Tribeca
Lied or misled you'll find it was simply a matter of left hand not knowing what right hand was doing. The images here look to be from the set up of the gear. Website says show is on tonight. I hear from someone who saw it last night that it is super cool. — Bobbi on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
I thought Telepan Local was good but uneven. Some of the dishes were among the best I had this winter and some were the worst. I agree with Wells that the weak dishes were bland rather than conceptually flawed. Hopefully Telepan and Javier will heed the reviews and move the menu in a bolder direction. — JD on In the News: High-End Stores Sign on at World Trade Center
I personally think the light projection is a wonderful addition to what has been an incredible eyesore in Tribeca for many many year. I hope they continue to do this on many of the other tall very large ugly buildings in our area. For one 60 Hudson STreet, the Western Union Building which could do with a light projection! — sonia stock on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
Since you were good enough to explain I've since started seeing it everywhere. Funny how that happens. — David G. Imber on Welcome to TweeBeCa: Special Celebrity Edition!
Wells could hardly have been colder to Telepan Local. Haven't been there, but it's a shame that Mr. Telepan seems to have taken such a wrong turn, from all the reviews I've read. — David G. Imber on In the News: High-End Stores Sign on at World Trade Center
Sad to see Pearl close, but happy there are new art stores opening up in Uptown- Artist and Craftsman Supply is on 125th and Adam Clayton Powell- huge store with a huge selection. Better prices than Pearl. — Harlem Artist on Pearl Paint Has Indeed Closed
Here's the scoop: It is indeed an off-shoot of iPlaza called Plaza M. The menu of services is similar and so are the prices but the decor is upscale and organic products are available. As well, there is a tantalizing array of spa pedicures with names like "Bourbon Super Scrub" and "Sweet Retreat". The lower level also offers privacy for massages etc. — Andrea on You Know What This Neighborhood Needs More of?
*Now* you mention it.... :) — Erik Torkells on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
On April 17, MediaPost ran an article about the AT&T TFF projections. http://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/223900/att-powers-tribeca-film-fest-with-film-for-all.html There's also a microsite dedicated to the program. http://www.filmforallnyc.com/ — Anonymous on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
I think the new salon is related to iplaza. — Fly on You Know What This Neighborhood Needs More of?
It wasn't an intern (and I believe the TFF starting paying interns this year -- something I only know because it lit up my Twitter search on "Tribeca" a couple of months back). In any event, I'm prepared to downgrade my outrage to "misled," but not to withdraw it entirely. I don't doubt that this promotion has taken a *lot* of work to put together and that it was simply meant to be announced after I inquired about it. — Erik Torkells on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
i'd say you got "interned." they run the whole festival using unpaid interns who don't have a clue... — josh on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
Trust me, service businesses like dry cleaners and nail salons are way less expensive in New York than they are in other cities. The economy of scale is at work here. — Andrea on You Know What This Neighborhood Needs More of?
You'd think with all the competition that prices would ultra-cheap but they aren't. Only possible explanation is that business is good and they must be making money. I guess as a guy I just have no idea how they are able to get so much business. — jeremy on You Know What This Neighborhood Needs More of?
urgh! What is it with this city and nail salons........ — LR on You Know What This Neighborhood Needs More of?
It was the phrase "double checked" that pushed me over the edge. — Erik Torkells on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
why do you assume you were lied to? that's pretty strong language. its very possible that the "rep" had no idea. there is a lot of stuff going on with them this week for them and unlikely you got the attention of someone with a 50,000' foot view. just saying. — Chris on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
Just think of all the great artists that have bought supplies at that store and then take that history and throw it away. that is the problem with NYC! — Chris Egan on Pearl Paint Has Indeed Closed
Really. 40 years ago, 100 years ago, we had celebrities walking around and the deal was NO BIG DEAL. Get over it. — jean grillo on Welcome to TweeBeCa: Special Celebrity Edition!
Say it isn't so. Pearl Paint closed. I'd rather believe Jesus did not die on the cross than to believe Pearl Paint is closed. As a long time artist I will say I do not like art supply stores and clerks even less. Finally when I discover a "REAL' art supply store, it closes. Every time. I for one will truly miss Pearl Paint. — Capt Flash on Pearl Paint Has Indeed Closed
Pearl Paint. J&R. Loheman's. Dante's (Village cafe). A plague year. How much poorer our city has become as my place flings itself headlong into everyplace. — AS on Pearl Paint Has Indeed Closed
This story encapsulates much that is despicable about the TFF, IMO. — David G. Imber on An Explanation for the Lights on the AT&T Long Lines Building
Sorry to hear this. I've always loved the sense of treasure finding I had a Pearl Paint. — Liat on Pearl Paint Has Indeed Closed
